Fat Turning To Flab ??

Recommended Posts

OK, I know the heading makes little sense, but here is what I mean.

A bander for almost 18 months, I have lost about 60 lbs.... from 285 to 225 (wish it was more), but still moving along slowly.

The only fat left is really my mid section (I'm a middle aged male, so mid section, tummy is always the problem zone)... and if I could get rid of the fat in the middle, I would lose about 30 lbs & be at my target.

Recently, things have started to "flap" around more, like the fat that once was is "loosening" and it seems more "flabby" than dense fat.... Does this make sense??

And ok, if it makes sense, what do I do? I have about 25 minutes (from a 6 am to 10 pm schedule) to exercise daily. I'm wondering what others have done, and if this is normal?

thanks !

Thats loose skin! Your skin gets stretched out when you get big, same as when women are pregnanyt and unfortunately it usually doest snap back completely. I was in despair at some stages, but found getting right down to a bmi of under 20 solved the worst of it, once you lose the fat under the skin it sometimes improves.

Yep, it's loose skin and extremely difficult to get rid of through exercise, and particularly weight loss. The more I lost the worse it got! I've always had rediculously thin, musculor legs, my only body part I ever liked. Well----- you should see them now!!!!! Yikes! 16 inches at the biggest part of my thigh, and thin horizontal folds of skin almost down to my knees!!!!!! I've worked with a trainer through all of this, And NOTHING has helped! I just had a br and tt 3 weeks ago and plan to do the inner thighs next summer.

My plastic surgeon said its weird that my thighs are so tiny and you really don't see the wrinkles when I'm lying down. So I told him I had a solution.....instead of having surgery I would hire some Cabanna Boys to carry me into the pool area on a bed so nobody would see my wrinkly thighs!!!! lol

On a more positive note, some people's skin does come back, like jachut's, she looks amazing!

Best of luck to you on your continued weight loss, and keep working out!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
