I have read online and seen on youtube people who claim msm has helped them a lot with sagging skin and stretch marks. Has anyone here tried the soaps or lotions or made there own from the powder? Anyone ingest tablets or powder? Notice a difference? Is it worth it? It isn't particularly expensive. I would love to know your thoughts.

I read that exfoliating the skin (I got those scrubbing mits at Walgreens) and soaking regularly in salt baths helps. Also getting all of your Protein is the best way. My skin was great the first 120 lbs lost but by the time I lost 170', it was a mess. I don't know how old you are or how much you have to lose...

i'm 26 and have 130 lbs to lose to get to a healthy goal, but would be happy just 80-100 lbs lighter. my surgeon today said to start saving for a tummy tuck..... i guess if i don't need it i will be able to go on vacation...

I've been taking MSM regularly for years for joint stiffness. I have osteoarthritis and it seems to help a little for that. It's good for many things that involve connective tissue, like skin. If you're young enough, exercise will help tighten the skin. However, my skin has been sagging more and more as I age and at some point nothing short of surgery helps, especially if there's been a lot of weight loss. I'm currently saving for bracheoplasty, which I think is the least expensive procedure. The band has been great and I'll never regret doing it, but I haven't worn short sleeves or a bathing suit in years. When the excess skin situation gets severe, I don't think that MSN is going to make much difference.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
