I'm 9 months out & faithfully taking all my Vitamins. I am also religious about my Protein. I was so afraid of losing hair & health issues that I've been doing what my dr says -- most of the time. Happy to report no issues, hair is thicker than pre-surgery & 85 lbs down. All the best!

Six years out and I still take 2 Multivitamins and im starting Calcium today. Doc really stressed the importance of this.

After you start getting fills you will have tough days where getting all the Vitamins you need isnt so easy.

So better safe then sorry plus band or not a flinestone a day is good for everybody :)

Even for those who haven't had WLS should be taking a multivitamin.

My doc says I'll be on them for life. I have 2 cousins who have had gastric bypass- I know it's not nearly the same as us- and they're so malnourished- no Vitamins. Why not keep taking them?

I will continue to take Vitamins, probably forever! your docs told you not to?? I don't understand that, I am a real fan of Dr. Oz and he thinks they are very important to our weight loss also, check out his website.

My dr also told me to take them for the rest of my life. My problem is remembering them! I have a five year old so in the morning hes getting ready for school im running out the door to work and i even tried taking them to work and i get so busy i forget! also it was too much of a hassle to try to remember one every 2 hours! I def still drink my Protein Shakes every morning

I didn't take them at first, either. I ended up deficient in Vitamin D, B12 and have been anemic since before my surgery. It is important to work on the habit now, while you are still eating a larger amount of nutrients.

I don't think you really want to end up deficient. Lack of B12 can cause permanent neurological problems. I was fortunate my PCP checks my Vitamin levels at least annually.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
