So I saw the doc, nutritionist and psych yesterday. Very overwhelming!! Crazy busy office. Seemed like nice people though. Got me right in. Made appointments for endoscopy, pulmonary and ultrasound. Today made appointment with cardiologist. Didn't realize I'd have to do all this before hand!!! But appointments are made. I think I figured out the schedule as far as pre-op medical clearance and pre-op appointment with doc goes. Hoping for July 16 date. Was feeling somewhat nervous today after a bad dream where noone approved the surgery and I was alone. Called a girlfriend and she came over and we chatted for some time. Decided I was doing what was best for me. Still want to do this. So I'm back to excited but still a little nervous too now!!!

Mood swings are normal anytime you are confronting a major life changing event...and also common post op with hormonal changes which may affect your mood.

The important point you addressed is that you are doing what you feel is best for you; your support system is extremely important, but at the end of the day, it is you who will have to do the work!

Best wishes as you navigate towards your surgery date!

Thank you. The best support is coming here. Hubby was more angry last night when we talked. He's very worried. Today he was better and I'm starting the diet now and making sure I can do the diet after.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
