it varies with everyone. i had the same issues, and two months on ive still got the same issues. my gut hasnt responded all that kindly to the massive change in diet.. the amount i eat plus what im eating. Im still having to use suppositaries and take tablets. i dont like doing it but i cant see how i can avoid it. i know that drinking heaps of Water helps a lot. especially with high Protein in our diets, we need more liquid. apart from that i dont know what else to be honest. if you are getting concerned about the time lapse, i would talk with a pharmacist. he would help you im sure.

Milk of magnesia worked for me and then to make sure I stay regular I put flax seed (powder) or psyllium husk (powder) in my smoothies, shakes or oatmeal.< /p>

Was banded Monday took some milk of mag tues and everything on track. Pain meds can constpate you very bad and I don't wanna go down that road ever again! So I suggest stool softeners or Miralax soon

I was like that too, it was 7-8 days when i decided to help myself along. Once you hit your mushy foods, you'll go! Remember your liquid diet isnt causing solids to build up.

I had to break down and get some milk of mag and later suppositories. The metamucil was nasty to me but everyone is different.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
