I gave up Coke Nov 24 2011. I still miss it. Get tired of flavored waters. Drink Hi-C or lemonade sometimes for something different. Know the sugar is bad for me

I miss Cherry Coke Zero terribly! When I tried to drink it, my stomach exploded (well it felt like it). Sometimes when I'm really stressed, I just sit and think about diet soda the way ex-smokers think of cigarettes. I found it a harder addiction to break than carbs.

I didn't quit it because my doctor told me to (which he did), I quit it because my dentist told me that the acid was aggravating my gum line and contributing to its recession. There is no scarier thought to me than being toothless!

Well the biggest issue I have with all this, as a LapBand newbie, is the conflicting info. My surgeon did not tell me not to drink soda. And I haven't heard anything about Peanut Butter until 6 months. My surgeon seems to be a kind of "well try it and see" kind of guy so I don't feel like I'm going against anything really. Like I said- all the conflicting info is hard to sort out. Just need to figure out how to make this tool work best for me :)

What all the conflicting information tells me is that there really is no true right and wrong. That said, what your surgeon tells you is what he or she has found to work best with the methods use by him or her. You should always stick to what rules were given to you by your surgeon.

That said. After 4+ years, what my surgeon said vs. what I think my surgeon said vs. what I read here vs. what I wish my surgeon said have pretty much blurred into one big glob of information. Many things I do remember, but not all. But it is important for you to follow the guidelines given to YOU.

I went to one of my surgeon's info seminars with a friend a month or so ago. He said, whatever I am doing, keep doing it, because it is working well.so I took that to mean my interpretation of his rules is right for me :D But I do see him yearly and check in with him.

It is best to follow the advice of your WLS, I take the forum for what it can give me which is support. For medical advice and true guidance about my band, what to eat and so on. I always go back to my MD. All docs give different advice based on their outcomes with there patients. The only consisitant thing I notice is chew your food and those that seem to follow the rules what ever those rules are seem to be the most successful.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
