first 4-6 wks after surgery is about healing...not so much the weight loss. many dont start losing big amounts til after their first fill. i two only lost 4 lbs in the first 2 weeks..but then as i was able to change my diet and increase my calories to closer to 1000, i then lost 5 lbs in just under a week...this wont happen for everyone, but even if it doesnt..dont freak out...it will happen in time, and any loss is better than a gain. Keep your chin up!

I totally understand!!! Counting the pre-op, I had lost 25 pounds...then I started mushies and slowly gained about 7 of those pounds back. I am on real food now and although I don't get my first fill until next week, I am making an effort to eat about 1200 calories and try to exercise. I have had to sit back and listen to everyone here who says that the "real" weight loss will happen after you start getting fills and actually feel full quicker. That is what I am waiting for. On the "up" side....I am 20 pounds lighter then when I first started this process AND I can feel that I have lost inches, because my tops are "hanging" better and my pants are getting a little loose around the waist. Hang in...you'll do fine. Here's a hug.... :P

We all tend to be impatient with waiting to see the real results of weight loss, and it is easy to become discouraged if you are compliant with your diet and see no results.

We cannot reverse the years of gaining weight immediately, so this journey is also about developing patience and perseverance.

Keep your focus on the goals you have set for yourself, and take a day at a time. I am also waiting for my first fill, and the only remedy I have found for managing my hunger is to keep sipping Water. But at least I meet my daily recommended Fluid amounts every day!

You will do fine...keep your eye on the prize of a healthier you!

For the first 3 weeks after I was banded I went through a depression/ baby blues feeling. I had a hard time with the post op diet plus I had a sad feeling. I do not have a scale so I did not watch the pounds. I have lost 7 lbs post op. I am not worried about that as much as learning how to eat. Do not worry, in time it will come together.

Please don't take this the wrong way. Doctors say you can loose 1-2 pounds per week with lap band. You have lost 2 pounds per week; so you are loosing on the high side. This is not bypass surgery. I have been a slow loser. I think this is because I had already lost 100 pounds per surgery. The hard facts are you lost the Water weight presurgery and now this is allllll real fat. It takes either burning off and or not eating 3500 calories before you can loose ONE pound. So in the last two weeks you have burned 14,000 calories. That's a lot.

One bandster wrote "Rome wasn't built in day and neither was your butt."

I am only one week post op, but i am starting to feel the "what have I done" thoughts. I think it is extra difficult because I feel that there are not a lot of choices of things to "drink" at this point. I am hoping to move on to the next stage at my post op appt in a week. I have dropped some weight which feels good and need to keep my eye on the prize....just feeling a little down on myself these past few days.

Take it from me, banded 14 months & dwn 120 lbs (well I was prior to an unfil for plastic surgery), u will start melting away soon. It takes months b4 u really start to see a physical change. It's hard to be patient after months of work thatg it took to get to surgery. But I promise u once u have a few fills u will be amazed by ur transformation! Hang inv there. It's worth it!

Please, please count your victories. Every pound and every inch is a victory!!!

I did not lose much the first three years!!!! But 16 fills later I'm finally starting to see it all come together. My saving grace was exercise- the exercise kept me shrinking even when the scale refused to move.

It was discouraging seeing everyone lose hundreds of pounds when I w as struggling at the same weight every single week. But staying focused on what was happening and not on what I thought should be happening was and is the key.

Take those weekly or daily pictures that is where you will see the progress!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
