Update 3 Months Post Op

Recommended Posts

I thought I would post a litlle about where I am at, 3 months after surgery. First off I still Love my band and have I do not have any regrets. My surgery date was February 16th, 2012. My starting weight was 232lbs. Since surgery I have lost 38lbs. WooHoo! It feels amazing and its starting to look amazing too! Along with that victory I have had those amazing Non scale victories that just make this whole process worth it. One of my NSV's was Shopping in the Juniors section and purchasing a size 13! (now they are loose 11 here I come :))

As for my Lapband, I believe i have a 10cc LapBand, i am currently filled to 6cc. I have had two fills so far and have just experienced what restriction feels like. I am still getting used to what foods work for me and what do not. So far this seems to be a new process each fill. I feel that the Lap Band has been a success so far for me because I have changed my life style completely, I realize this is forever, I do not deprive myself like I am on one of my old hardcore diets. I eat healthy as a lifestyle now, not a 4 week diet. When I am craving something that is higher in calories than normal I will allow myself a bite if it is something my band will even allow and I stop there and move on with my life. My biggest motivator is knowing that these 38lbs are not coming back and that this is just the beginning!

I know this website can be full of issues which we all run into at some point or another, but I just wanted to post my progress so far because nothing motivates me more than reading others stories and learning how they are living with the lap band.

I agree on the fills and how each one is like a new paradigm. My last one was last Friday the 11th. #6 for me. So, now foods that passed easily a week ago, get stuck or fill me much quicker. It appears as though this one might place me in the green zone and I'm very excited to see better results.

well, my experience so far is. im now coming up 2 months post op. ive lost weight steadily the whole time. Ive found that i never had a time where there was no restriction. i did get hungry towards the time for my first fill but Ive consistently had issues with eating meat. Last wednesday i had my first fill. im now a week out from that, and its hard to eat a small serve of fish or read meat. Has anyone had this a week after being filled? the way it is right now , if this problem doesnt ease up i wont be getting any more fills. i have 3 ccs in a 10 cc band.

im loving the way the weight is going. its steady as she goes . my energy levels are up and im enjoying life a lot more. I have to say though, im losing the enjoyment of food , and cooking is becoming a chore for me. i did read here where someone else was the same. How many of your are going through this?? not enjoying food and finding that cooking is a hassle??

i feel i need to add to this one. So far, no bread, very little potato and carbs... im still having Soup though, i find that having the thicker Soups goes down best.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
