So, I am considering going to the Angeles Health hospital in Tijuana for lap band surgery. Dr Corvala is the surgeon. Any feedback would be appreciated. They will use the Allergan band and they suggest also using something called the Endo FLIP. This is being done in NY, but as far as I can tell it is new and not being done elsewhere. It is supposed to make it possible to measure your stoma size and make it easier to get/stay in the green zone. I am unsure of this new technology and wonder if anyone else has it out there. Also, if my local office doesn't install it yet, how will they be able to use it during the fill process?

Any advice on either Mexico or the Endo Flip is much appreciated!

I'd never heard of the Endo Flip, so I Googled it. Supposedly the device allows the surgeon to adjust the band to the mythical "sweet spot" during band placement surgery. Sounds nice, but there are a lot of other factors that affect restriction that I don't think the Endo Flip can account for or control. From what I read, the Endo Flip is used only during surgery, not to do adjustments after surgery.

As for getting feedback about Dr. Corvala, you might want to post a question here:

I'm not sure if they used an endo flip on me during surgery but I was given 7 cc of fill at the time of placement

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
