I had brachioplasty yest and let me tell ya this is rather painful! I think it might just be more uncomfortable than my band surgery was. I also had my chest wall reduced, the fat pad next to my breast (I call it the 3rd and 4th boob), and this is probably the most painful part. I can not put my arms down next to my body so I kind of have to walk around like a zombie, lol. Tomorrow, well today now, I go back to my doctor and have my ace wraps removed and change to a compression dressing. My plastic surgeon said that I am to stay away from caffine and chocolate, because it causes vasoconstriction, has anyone ever heard of this? I don't usually eat chocolate much but dang I sure want some now that I'm not supposed to eat it! lol.

Any tips or advice out there for the best possible healing? Greatly appriciate it!

Here are some pics...

Hello:

My LapBand surgeon suggested that I increase my Vitamin C intake before I had my plastic surgery and keep it up for 3 months. I healed very well, so I'm going to pass this suggestion along.

Best wishes to you and your new arms.

Sue

I don't know anything about this surgery, except that I want it!! Obviously I have to lose weight first, but even when I was thinner I had big arms. I'm sorry to hear it's painful!!! Was it covered by insurance?

Things are starting to feel better today :) Thanks Magoo I will definatly add some extra Vit C to my daily routine! I was able to get my drains removed today, yippie! I'm now in a compression garmet, my new piece of clothing for the next month.

Insurance does not cover brachioplasty Sasha, it's purely cosmetic. It cost me 6,000$ with the chest wall reduction and brachioplasty.

I kinda feel like the extra 2,000$ for the chest wall wasn't really worth it b/c he didn't really take a whole lot (I lost 18 lbs more between my preop appt and surgery). But it's hard to tell right now b/c everything is so swollen and undefined. I may feel different when I'm healed up.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
