Lap Band With Gastric Plication

Recommended Posts

i agree. i wish like anything that i didnt have to get either but i do. i have a problem. and i am hoping with this tool' date=' i can try and get my weight down and start walking again and trying to just feel better. i had no idea he was doing the plication til my final surgeons visit last week and he asked me did i want to this (and then he explained it to me). 93 pounds OH MY GOSH I FIND THAT INCREDIBLE. please tell me how please please please. thank you so much for posting this.[/quote']

I did the plication w/ band 5/18 and I still have no appetite. I'm happy I did, I'm sure it comes with success. The only thing I have is gas and I have not had a BM- sorry tmi- yet. I'm assuming because I've only had liquids and barely any protein!

I'm excited for u!

Shy2012 - Unfortunately Constipation is the bad side effect of the whole thing. I find myself going from one extreme to the other and that had never been a problem for me in the past. I have to have some type of Fiber and I am not into the artifical kind (like medamucil - although that is a possible solution). I will eat an apple (with peanut butter) from time to time. But, for you you are still on the liquids and are pretty much stuck (no pun intended) so you may have to use a stool softener or artificial fiber. The gas is also something that was no fun for me..It was like magic when it finally went away about 2 -3 weeks after surgery. Just keep drinking fulids and walking - it is the only thing that really works. You sound like you are doing great..just hang in there a bit longer and things will start returning to the "new normal".

I sure hope so! I didn't think it was a problem because I'm only having liquids and have not consumed much Protein. So I actually thought it was ok. But I guess not.. I'm going to keep drinking my Water and walking to get all the gas out!

Thanks Melinda

I have found that I experience "lack of bathroom activity", which I never had a problem with before. I now go every 2 or 3 days and that is disturbing - is that normal? There are so many uncertain things for me right now, I wonder if I made the right decision doing this....

LadyScorpio: I get your doubt. On day 2 or 3 after surgery I felt that way and from time to time I still do (9 months post op now). I have hit a wall and am no longer dropping weight..in fact I am up 2-3 pounds and can't seem to control my hunger and desire for the bad stuff. I am happy with my weight loss so far (90 + lbs), but why this wall and why now??? Then I get constipated and feel even worse. I see my doctor every 30 days and last month he even did a .5 unfill thinking I was too full..Shoot, I don't know and I don't think he knows either...I just can't find my exercise drive anymore nor can I find that drive that kept the sweets and carbs out of my hands..I guess I deprived myself right into a feeding frenzy. I see the doctor on 6/8 and I am sure I will get a re-fill of that .5 then I can slime and PB at every meal again, oh, yay. You know some parts of this whole thing just flat stink. Sorry, I started writing this to make you feel better and instead I probably made you and anyone else who reads this feel worse but that is why I come to this website - to vent and gather strength from others. Scorpio..we are all in this boat together and it looks like the sucker may have a few holes in it so we have to keep bailing - together !!!! Hope you are doing better today and have a great Memorial Day weekend !

I have to be there at 6:30 for 8:30! Question for you all, my doc gives me the choice to stay the night or go home ( if everything is ok, no complications) I'm leaning towards staying, any advice or opinion on that first night?

melinda such lovely words, thank you.

well, i know my surgery is day surgery. i asked my dr would i stay overnight, he said i would. (i think bc of my sleep apnea but am not sure). i may feel more comfy overnight knowing thr dr and nurses are there w/pain med if i need it. so i think i am spending the night. as for you, if you feel comfortable and ok to go home, id say go . just go by what your body tells you.

i know after my gallbladder surgery, i was up and about well but the next day was painful as hell. that was xmas eve too. i am so hoping it goes smoothly like my gallbladder.

hows your liquids??? doing okay??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
