Mushies Phase - Drink While Eating?

I know we aren't supposed to drink while eating when we start on solids but does anyone suggest drinking while on mushies/pureed foods? I am so scared of getting stuck (this is day 7 for me) and it's comforting to feel cold Water make it's way down my stomachs (it feels like I have two, really). I'm not as worried about staying fuller longer. I am more concerned with getting actual nutrients into my body, having energy AND not getting stuck. Suggestions?

Being nervous is understandable but you really don't need to be. You can make your mushies a bit runnier by adding more liquid at the start and then reducing the liquid amount progressively.

Drinking with your meals will only push the food through faster and leaving you less satisfied.

You need to start eating now the way you will need to once you are on solids. The sooner you get used to not eating and drinking together the better. You are highly unlikely to get stuck at this point (if you stick to what you are supposed to be eating) so it really shouldn't be a problem.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
