For me it's a pressure in my chest....not pain really. You may also feel like you have a lot more saliva.

well.. here i go again.. lol.. ive had about three episodes now that i would have loved to have avoided, but im slow to learn. lol.

Last night i was cooking potato chips under the grill for hubbie. i sometimes forget ive got the band now?? (not good lol) ... well,i was cooking chips and just grabbed one, put half in my mouth . .. chewed about five times and swallowed. As soon as, i freaked.

immediately my chest was on fire.food churning and coming back up into my throat. the pain was awful. i couldnt do anything to get rid of it. i was salivating... wanted to be sick but couldnt. this lasted for an hour. it was one of the most horrible experiences ive gone through for a long time. I just couldnt do anything to stop it.

So... a big lesson. Dont take the chance by just '' popping food into your mouth''.... i did... and it cost me. I was able to have about three mouthfuls of cold tea before i went to bed.(hours later, the experience left me feeling quite ill ) Chewing like you wouldnt believe this time... and i was o.k.

Theres nothing like getting stuck with food to make one realize just what a big surgery this is... and how it impacts. i hope this has helped to warn you off not chewing properly. Now... if i had donethe right thing and bitten off a tiny bit, which by the way would have given me just enough of a taste... if Id done that and chewed over 30 times, i would have been o.k. just a little warning here.

My favourite description was from someone who isn't active on the boards atm, Bob. He said it felt like you were a vampire that had just been stabbed in the chest with a stake. I think that sums it up pretty well.

Yep the vampire thing about sums it up! My husband tries not to laugh but when I'm runnin around flapping like a chicken with its head cut off, jumping up and down clutching my chest (I dramatize for effect) i cant say i blame him! thankfully the two times it has happened to me it passed in a min or two.

I used to at first, but its been 10 months now so it's getting eaiser. But I still tend to wait too long to eat and then have to remember not to eat fast take too big of a bite. . Still getting used to that process.

WOW...you all have done well at describing it..and I pray i never make the mistakes that will cause it to happen..but realistically i know it happens to EVERYONE at least once....thanks for the comments..i definitely have a better idea of what to expect...

this gas pain im dealing with now is awful..and getting stuck definitely sounds 50 times worse...very scary.

Heck ya, its really bad when I get really hungy, thats when I need to really watch myselft. I do have a tendacy to try to take bigger bites. I guess those life long habbits are just harder to break.

But I think this last fill will do me for a while. Not sure I want anymore. As much problems as Im having now will wait for a while to even think of getting another fill.

For me, it feels like I have a huge lump in my throat/chest and I have MAJOR pain radiate to my upper back. I have just started experiencing this. I had my second fill last week and think that I might be a bit to tight! :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
