Nothing helps me but throwing it up... the pain and discomfort is too bad to avoid it. It happens when I eat too fast or don't chew enough. I am 6 months post-op and I probably throw up 4-5 times a week. Anyone else?

goodness me.. .thats scary. you mean to tell me that you go through that agony 4-5 times a week?/ is your band too tight??

I just had an episode..I threw up so I could get relief. It hurts so bad that I almost get a headache. I just had my 3rd fill on thursday and started back eating Saturday night. Soft things of course but everything I eat now hurts going down. I thought I was chewing long enough but I guess not. I'm glad I'm not alone. I will be buying some papaya enzymes tomorrow!!!

I stick my toothbrush down my throat and make myself throw whatever is stuck up. NOTHING else works for me. I'll break out into a cold sweat till I get it out.

Marci

I did this two years ago just occasionally and my band slipped.....I learned that there is no safe way to throw up with the band.

What ever you avoid the urge to throw up!!! That is how your band slips....it might feel good at the time, but the long term consequences are really bad. I have found that pineapple juice is the best....good luck.

Your band can slip from VOMITING not from coughing or regugitating up food. Vomiting comes from your stomach , below the band and is usually forceful, coughing up the food comes from above or at the band.

Good luck with things such as pineapple juice, papaya enzymes etc. They may work for some but for most they have no effect. They are also most likely to work if the stuck is caused by something that is bitty e.g rice, ground beef rather than something that is solid e.g a piece of chicken or meat.

If you are stuck then it is not normally possible to wait for the food to go down, that can cause hours or days of pain and discomfort. If it is a solid item it probably won't move anyway. The ONLY solution is to bring it back up.

I just bought the papaya enzymes from GNC. But it seems to be cheaper buying them online.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
