I was banded April 26th, I had no idea how much pain I would be in after. I had a complete hysterectomy in December 2010, and I think I felt better after that. I am bordering on miserable. I'm glad I did it, just wasn't prepared for the pain after I guess. Wondering if it's just me, or are there others out there feeling the same?

Thanks,

Karie

First day painful, second day better but still painful, third day much better and each day then got better. Hang in there. Agree I wasn't using the strips enough. When the gurgling starts really helped. Hang in there!

peppermint tea for the gas pain too. Lots of walking, and take your pain meds on a schedule.

Yes the gas pain was the worse. After 3 days of no success with the gas x I tried taking it before I ate. Big difference! It does get better. On day 2 & 3 I just knew I had made the biggest mistake of my life. I'm almost 1 week post op now & I feel totally different. Get the gas moving & you'll feel so much better!

Yes, the gas pain was the worst! I also felt as though I was in a car accident. My entire body was sore, even my neck muscles. That only lasted about 3 days. The gas pain lasted an entire 7 days. I walked a lot and took gas x strips, not much helped during those days. I found that a heating pad on my lower back helped quite a bit. Didn't get rid of it but the pain lessened for a little while. I felt the same way.... I remember telling my husband. " I think I may have made a terrible mistake"! After the 1st 7 days I felt much differently. I was banded on 4/5/12 and have lost 21lbs already. The pain I endured was so worth the results I am seeing thus far! Best of luck to you on your wls journey!

ive had hysterectomy and two knee replacments, plus heaps of other surgeries. i think the only surgery that made me feel worse after woods for any length of time was a Birch's suspension. that was horrific. With my knees i didnt have the ongoing after the initial post op, with this it never stops lol. its there for life. i think when it hit me it really pulled me up short, lol.

I was in pain but also went through an emotional pain. Kind of like depression for a week

i know what you mean. this last weekend ive had my sister staying. WE had red wine,(and great food, but not much food for me) just like we used to... and i loved having it. so, after she went, i kept having one or two glasses of an evening. Last night it pulled me up with a severe jolt. what on earth was i thinking?? i cant go back !! ive subjected my stomach to radical life changing surgery... and for what if i continue with red wine every night??.. so, in bed, i determined... NO MORE !! i was grieving for the old lifestyle myself... its obvious when i look back. it did catch me by surprise because im post op now nearly 7 weeks. Anyway.... now i recognise what it is thats going on in me... i know i can fight it. i had no idea how much that food and wine was a part of me at the deepest level of my emotions and pyche. awful . time to have a thorough cleanse , inside and out.

It was not easy. I was mourning a loss of food...sort of. But that night my son came up to me and rubbed my arm and told me not to cry i will feel better soon. I then remembered why I did this.. I didn't want to miss out on his life. Put it in perspective for sure.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
