I just have to say that I am proud of myself. I have a long way to go to truly become a 'success story', but I am celebrating my little successes. I have been on blood pressure meds for 25 years. Over the years I've had to have bigger doses to keep it under control. When I went back to the dr. for my fill, my bp was 90/55= low. So I monitored for a week and it was still low- plus I had dizzy spells/low energy bc of the low bp. Now, I am on 1/4 of the dose after losing just 30 pounds. Regular Dr. is pleased and projected I would be off bp meds after another 20-30 pounds. My health is so much better and I feel so much better already. The band was worth it just for that!!! I am walking/jogging 3-5 miles a day. I was a couch potato before. I feel 'in-control' for the first time in SO long. :)

And this is just the start of the positive health related changes you will likely experience...very happy for you!

I have also had to reduce my blood pressure medicine dose, though as I have "essential hypertension", and weighed only 125 pounds when diagnosed, I am predicted to continue to need the medication.

But, what I was not expecting was my GERD to resolve after 12 years of taking a very high dose of Prevacid daily. Now I only use it 1-2 times a month.

Keep up your great job!

Way to go! Congrats on lowreing your meds! I know for me it wont be as much about weight loss as it is decreasing the number of Meds I have to take.

Keep up the great work!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
