The Gone for Good Club

Recommended Posts

Hi Patty and welcome to the GFG Club! I've added you to the members list on page one of this thread. Have a look at the other members' information listed there, and lte me know if you want more added to yours.

Heather - I track my calories and Protein for my own peace of mind. Sometimes I think I'm eating way too much, but when I add it up I've actually not eaten enough. Counting calories used to be like putting up a barrier for me. When I reached the max allowed, I had to stop. Now it's more like keeping my finger on the pulse to be sure I'm doing ok.

Skbishop - After I had my first fill, and completed my two days of liquids, I was suddenly very hungry and was eating a lot more than normal. It really confused me! How can I eat more AFTER a fill?? :) Thats been three weeks ago now and things have settled in nicely. I still can't explain the increase in hunger or the ability to eat more at a time, but I can definitely say that my restriction is very nice right now. There's no way I could eat that much anymore, and it only lasted for a couple of days.

RHONDA - how are you feeling today?

RHONDA - how are you feeling today?

NOT TOO BAD TODAY. I HAD SOME VEGETABLE Soup FROM PANNERA(?) bread AND A LITTLE WHILE LATER 1/2 OF A TURKEY SANDWICH. TAKING IT EASY AND HOPE I DON'T DO THIS FOR THE NEXT FILL. I AM AT 2CC RIGHT NOW. SO I WOULDN'T THINK I WOULD NEED MUCH MORE, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. I DID DROP THE POUNDAGE OVER THE WEEKEND (YEAH). HOPEFULLY IT WILL STAY OFF UNTIL WEDS. WEIGH-IN.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE,

Hey photonut,

Its been 6 days since my first fill, and i called my Doc today and he wants to see me again tomorrow. I am going to have another fill tomorrow....I mean I can eat like anything. I ate a whole freakin chicken breast last night, and last week (3 days after fill) I had 7 chicken mcnuggets (fell off the wagon for 1 night) and was completely fine. I also have had sips of carbonated beverages not drinking them, but had a sip of my dh when I was really thirsty...and it didn't bother me at all. I just feel like I am the abnormal here....the band just doesn't seem to be working for me. I am losing because I am dieting and exercising, but the band really is not playing its part. I am so bummed! Maybe tomorrow will help!

Stacey, what size band do you have? And how much do you have in it?

I have the smallest band and I had no pre-fill. I think I have well...I heard him say 2 somthing. Isn't that awful I didn't even ask....I will tomorrow!

Am I the only one in this club who doesn't count calories?

Just curious???

I only eat when I am hungry... and then, I eat meat first, then veggies and fruit.

It seems to be working great for me.

I don't see how you guys count calories. It is too difficult for me. This last fill has really been GREAT for me.

If I put something in my mouth when I am not physically hungry... it won't go down! I LOVE my band!

I don't count calories.

I just eat the same thing more or less every day, so I just... know calories.

Hi all,

I kind of let my membership here lapse (er...similar to the many gym memberships I've had). I feel as if I'm just coming out of this funk postop (I'm 6 weeks out on Thursday). Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. I'm still trying to cut out my nighttime eating. It's a habit. Usually, I'm not even hungry! Everyone here is quite an inspiration!!

Kelli (240 today).

Today's plan accomplishment:

I will follow my Nutrisystem meal plans. (OK stayed on track. This is a huge accomplishment for me.)

I will exercise for a minimum of 20 min a day 4 days a week. (30 min today plus I cleaned up my office space and threw out things from 2001. That is also an accomplishment.)

I will lose at least 1 lb a week. (I have lost a 1/2 pound as of this morning. I go see Dr. Billy tomorrow. YIKES!! He is gonna holler at me so bad. LOL!!!! )

I will drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day. (I got mine in today.)

Positive reinforcement mantras:

I cannot continue to eat unhealthy and expect to lose weight.

I cannot continue to not exercise and expect to lose weight.

I cannot continue to buy pills, buy exercise equip, etc then not use them and expect to lose weight.

I cannot continue to feel sorry for myself because I do not have the band anymore.

Pugmum - It's good to see ya back around again. I've really been hit with nighttime hunger lately. I just keep drinking Water and assuring myself that I can eat when I get up. So far, so good but I can really relate.

Daily goals update:

The only thing I did that was on my list were things I could do sitting down. I've been in such a slump today.. I think I'm coming down with something. Bleh. Good thing is, weigh-in is going to rock this week. I've really made up for last week. *grins*

I'm not sure why I get so hungry right before bedtime (besides in my head). What time do you eat dinner and then what time do you go to bed? Maybe I have too big of a gap between them. Tonight I just had a few peanuts. That's got to be better than pretzels. :)

Hi all.

I have been reading this thread for a few days now and thought I would come in and say hello.

I am a 42 year old woman (43 tomorrow) who has struggled with weight loss my entire life. I was a chubby kid, and never really learned to eat healthy. I can remember losing tons of weight in high school by starving myself. I lived on tab and celery.

My first year of college I gained the freshman 15, and then lost and maintained a reasonable weight although at the time felt like I was huge (size 10). After college I moved around quite a bit finding a "career" and was able top maintain my weight until I hit about 35.

I think I was tired of starving myself. I just started to eat...and eat...and eat. Before I knew it I was up to 260 and was not able to lose the weight.

I did not want to go the surgery route, so I went to a place called Structure House for 30 days to "teach" me how to eat again. It cost me a bundle and I lost 35 lbs, but did not keep it off (how depresssing). I did get motivated and went down to 200 about a year later. I work for the department of defense, and at that time they sent me to Iraq for 7 months to support the effort there. I lost some additional weight there and felt great. I was home a little less than a year and had gained every pound back....plus some (285) .....I still don't understand how that happened.

It was then I decided to try weightloss surgery. I was not into RNY because of the compliciatons. I had never heard of lap band, but after some intensive research decided that was for me.

I am currenlty in Baton Rouge, LA supporting the Katrina Relief effort here. Although I have done well with my weight loss since the surgery....I am struggling now becuase of the pressure of my current job. We work 12 hour days 7 days a week trying to get victums into temporary housing units paid for my FEMA. I have to keep myself motiviated every day to stay on track (although the fill I got right before I came here has done wonders).

Just wanted to tell my story and say that for the first time in a long time, I feel like I am in control of my weight and that I will be able to be successful...thank goodness for my band : )

Thanks for listening all! : )

(H-highest weight, S-weight at surgery, J-weight when joined this club, G-goal weight, C-current weight)

Hi Maggie and Welcome! Happy birthday early - just in case I forget to tell you tomorrow - which is highly likely... my memory seems to be going with my weight ;-). Looks like you're doing great on the weight loss! Also - just another thanks for being in Iraq and LA to help!

Pugmum - I usually eat dinner around 6ish, and am in bed by 10 or 11. Big gap there and that's when I get hungry. If I eat around 6:30 or 7 I do better. I've been eating four meals a day: 10:30, 12:30, 3:30 and 6:30 is a typical day for me. The first meal being Cereal for my Fiber, so it doesn't last long. My doctor wants me eating 3 meals a day, but I swear I don't know how I'd get enough calories. If you really can't stand it, and have to eat after 7.. try sugar free Jello. It's filling enough to see you through to bedtime, yet turns to liquid so doesn't hang around long. :)

Maggie - Welcome to the club and thank you for your story! I admire the work you are doing but I can sure see how stressful it would be. My story of weight loss/gain is similar to yours. Feels good to finally have a hold of something that gives that control, doesn't it?

Joe - Welcome to you too! Dawg and I did Atkins a few years back. It worked great for the first month or two but then stalled on us. And my cholesterol was through the roof. I'm feeling much better these days, and I'm guessing you are too.

I'll get you two on the members list today. :D

HeatherGurl - I just wanted to thank you for starting this group. Your idea is becoming a reality and I for one am really enjoying it. You need to speak up more though. I miss ya gurl!

Everyone - I would really like to emphasize the fact that this is not "MY" thread. I keep the stats up for Heather because she can only get here during work hours. I am a very social person, love to talk to anyone and everyone, and (as many of you already know) I typically have something to say about everything. *grins* Please, please.. all of you remember that this club is YOURS, not mine, not Heather's. Jump in and comment, welcome new folks, share ideas about weight loss and the club, and take ownership. That's why we started the GFG Club!

Tomorrow is weigh-in day for those who enjoy tracking their weight. I hope everyone is having a good week and that we see more exciting results like last week. Tricia and I have decided we won't be needing those tissues this week. :clap2:

Please post tomorrow's weigh-in like this: C 261 (-46 lbs total, -4 this week)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
