I am on day 8 of my 2 week liquid diet the first 2 days were hell!!! Lol but honestly it's been a breeze since then..I lost 10lbs in 6 days. My doctor has me drinking 4 slim fast low carb shakes a day plus sugar free Jello Popsicles and crystal light..I dont like te chicken broth so I don't drink it...just get through the first few days and it will get better I honestly don't feel really hungry anymore or have super crazy cravings. It's become almost a routine now so u dont think about it as much

Lost 4 pounds already past two days whoo-hoo. If you struggle just think how pounds will come off and you will feel better about yourself.

My preop consists of HMR products which is like WeightWatchers meals not to bad tasting. I've read some having to take 2week liquids which sounds difficult I wonder why the different preop diets?

My pre-op diet is my hmr shakes too. My nutritionist was giving me a 2 week diet but then she recommend a shake/liquid diet. They are seeing better results with this diet better.

The shakes are not bad just tired of thinking of the shakes.

My pre-op diet is shake in the morning 3to4 oz of lean meat veggies salad and chicken broth shake for dinner. Why are all the pre-op diets different?

My pre-op liquid diet is 10 days. I am supposed to have a minimum of 5-6 8oz servings of Protein a day. I have been having Isopure, Oh Yeah, and Pure Protein Shakes. In addition to the protein I can have broth, low cal gatorade, sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles. On 10 day I can have Clear Liquids only.

I also wondered why everyone has diff pre-op diets. I am on a 14 day liquid diet. Doc says its so that it will shrink my liver and help him get to my stomach better. I drink 3 Protein Shakes a day. I'm also allowed sugar free Jello and popsicles. I blend chicken noodle Soup for dinner. I can also have crystal light. My only downfall is that I need to drink more Water.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
