Really Need A Buddy?

Recommended Posts

I am just beginning my journey and have been feeling like no one really gets what I'm going through at home. My fiancé is extremely supportive but it's hard for him to really get what I'm going thru. I've been overweight my whole life and was picked on more like harassed my whole life he's always been a athlete and always under two hundred pounds. I just need a band buddy who can hold me accountable or just to lean on each other for support. Thanks!

HI. I would really like a band buddy. I had the surgery 3 yrs ago. My band got too tight and so the Dr emptied it. To be truthful for 2 weeks I have been eating all the things I haven't been able to eat for 3 yrs. Not exactly the thing to do. So, I have to start all over.

It would be so nice to have someone to talk to for encouragement and butt kicking when I need it.

I will be happy to encourage you as well. However no butt kicking unless you say ok. lol

Thanks for replying!

Hi Apelt,

Don't feel that way. I am in the same boat with you, I am now 250lbs. I have been harassed and called names so I decided to get that LapBand. I finally decided to do it thought was not covered by my insurance. At this point I did not care. I just went ahead and paid out of my pocket. After this I will go for Gynecomastia surgery.

Please email me directly at SfbayMoe@gmail.com and we can chat and share interesting stories.

Thanks

Moe

Hi Wayne,

Ow is it going for you since 11/10? How many ponds did you lose. I just got banded few hours ago. I did not take any pain killer meds. I had 2Protien Shkaes which had 140calories each. On top of that I had a handful of m&Ms candies. I will be on Post Op Diet religiously.

Anything special I do?

There's nothing wrong with having a support system on here and at home. You'll succeed and do great!

Hi. I need a buddy too. I've had the lapband done 3 years ago. I had lost weight now I am back up to where I started. I had 2 blood clots to my lungs last year and I decided to quit smoking. I was feeling healthy but since i have put my weight on again I'm out of breath like I was. I hate it, I'm so frustrated cause my insurance company doesn't pay for my band fillings it makes it difficult, it did till change in job. Maybe someone can give me the encouragement and we help each other as a team it can help. I'm looking for a buddy.

If u need an ear, not professional advice but experience advice, I am here and have been through ups, downs, and all arounds. No one will know what it feels like unless they have walked in our shoes. It's going to be ok:) life different, but I do not regret my band and life change!!!! There will be good and bad days... I'll never want to go back to where I was, 268 and down to 190!

I just found out that my sister is approved for her lapband surgery!!!!! I have anticipated this day with pure elation. It's hard to see our families struggle with weight and watch the success the band has given to me. Now it's your turn Kerri!

I had lap band surgery exactly 1 year ago. I've lost 55 pounds. Not as fast as the surgeon thought I would, but I know it's 55+ less than I would weigh if I hadn't had it done.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
