Recommended Posts

Been doing soo good with this last fill. Down 14 lbs in 7 weeks. Only downfall is this weekend went camping and hiked soo much, hardly ate, could not tolerate the food so stuck to Protein Shakes and ate very very little! Came home, weighed myself today and gained 3lbs. What's the deal!!!!!

Hello, just thought i would let u know u r not alone. Going thru the same thing but i must tell you the first thing my dr and nutritionist addressed was weighing too much. They actually dont want me to weigh except for my monthly visit to the office. The point is your wt fluctuates for various reasons thruout the day. U may b able to finda article online from a couple yrs ago called "why the scale lies". Excellent. I read it when i need a wakeup. Pages r old &i wrinkled, lol.

did you drink enough Water? I'm sure you'll find you'll drop it in a day or two.

14 lbs in 7 weeks seems slow. Is that normal?

All depends upon where you are at in this journey. Have you had only one fill?? When were you banded???

No it's not my first fill and yes it is slow but for me works well considering my busy schedule and I try to work in my exercise when I can.

I thought 2 lbs per week was Ideal .... 2lbs x 7wks = 14 lbs ...

Well that is an average without a band but I know people on here that have lost 40lbs in that amount of time. Not sure I'm not banded yet

14 pounds in 7 weeks is not slow at all..The doctors usually want u to lose about 2 pounds a week so u are right on track..I agree with the increase in Water Intake im sure u will drop those few pounds soon keep up the good work!!

Most people who lose that amount of weight in less than two months are either heavier and have a lot to lose, or they are on a seriously restricted calorie diet (800). I have lost about 35 in a little over two months, but mostly due to a very low cal pre-op diet and the post-op liquid phase. The Allergan Lapband booklet says SOME may lose 3-4 a week, but that 1-2 is the norm.

To the thread starter: Please don't get discouraged about the weight loss. It will all come in due time, it's not a race :)

I think we need to remember to most important thing with our bands is maintenance. So i think its great that you are tracking your progress and the red flag went up when you saw an increase on the scale. Just make sure to get your Water, track your calories, and get your fills. Keep your doctor in the loop especially because he/she would know better than I do :)

I want you to remember that the heavier you are the faster the weight typically comes off and vise versa. Loosing weight is an indvidual experince and you should be proud of the 14 lbs so far.. not many people can say they have lost 14 lbs and kept it off for 7 weeks with little restricton.

You wont fail so dont give up in a few weeks when you have lost a big chunk of weight you wont even remember this time. Keep going and congradulations again.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
