I Need A Buddy...newly Banded In Oregon

Recommended Posts

We should have all get together for a coffee date somewhere.

I did receive your PM Staci, I will text you tonight so you have my number. I'd love to know what Protein you use. When I drink a shake, I use the costco premier nutrition chocolate or Atkins Caramel cafe and blend both with fruits for a smoothie. I tried Jay Robb Protein and love the orange dreamsicle but found the others to have a weird aftertaste- I don't know if I got bad batches, but maybe I should try them again?

I'd like to meetup too. I couldn't stand the costco shakes, so luckily my husband has finished them for me. Just had my second fill last week.......the fills are very slow at OWLS. Will take me at least 3 more months to get close to restriction. Other than that things have been going pretty smoothly. Does anyone have kids? My son will be 4 on the 15th!

What is the fill schedule for you? I am right next door at legacy weight mngmt and the fills go 2cc, 2cc, then as needed per the surgeon.

Dr. Patterson's does 1 cc, 1cc, and then down to 1/2 cc. So about 1/2 the rate as Legacy. At least I only have a 10cc band. I have my 3rd fill (1/2 cc =/) in about 2.5 weeks.

That's unfortunate, but it's not a race either... I find as long as I eat high Protein, I stay full. I believe I am at 4.5 out of 10cc now and can honestly say there's a difference.

Do you go to the support meetings? There is one Wednesday evening...

I've gone and probably will be going tomorrow. There were only four other people the times I've gone before, but they said when the weather starts getting better that more people come out. I really like that they have a discussion topic each time and one of the staff (surgeon, nutritionist, physical therapist, or psychologist) leads the meeting.

Hey everyone-

I was banded in February by Emma Patterson - OWLS, down about 14 pounds since surgery. I am going in for full # 3 this Thursday so hopefully it will help.

I would love to hear how each of you are doing with meals and any thing you have found that really helps?

Talk you all soon-

I'm not sure, but I think it's public? I've only seen other patients there, but like I said, there's not too many?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
