Second Day Is Better Than Expected

Recommended Posts

Hey all! I am finally posting to the forum :-). I had my surgery yesterday and my ab area is a little sore today but I feel good overall. I am just getting nervous about eating again and all the do's and dont's but I understand it is a learning process.

I am glad to be here and hope to get to know everyone on this awesome journey to reclaim my health and life!!

Hi there! I had mine Weds and I know what you mean about eating. I went out with my mom this morning to a coffee shop and realized that I was pretty stuffed after drinking my cup of tea, and wasn't going to get the Soup down. It's very very strange to just stop there and think "Ok, I guess I'm done."

I'm not looking forward to feeling hungry though! And I hear that should start soon...

Please you new gals.....I do not know if you are reading other posts, but alot of you gals are getting constipated....For your own sake. Be carefull. take all precautions not to have this. I know that no one likes to talk about it. But it is better before than after.

Colace is a great preventative. It's a softner, not a stimulant laxative. I started taking it the morning after my surgery and continued to take it daily until I finally "went". I know from past experience that pain killers and anesthetic can really bind you up, so I that's why I started it right away.

If anyone is trying to avoid it, I'd start the Colace immediately.

Oh and congrats to the new bandsters :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
