Jenny,

Despite being in a commumist country the healthcare ranks 9, when the US rank is 15. I'm actually stoked that i'm going to cuba. I have to go to my 1st appt, first before anything. Thats on the 2nd.

First hi an welcome ;) this site is awesome an you wanting to b a healthier you is awesome! However your experience to make you want to be a doctor is well ... Moving

My husband of 18yrs is from Brooklyn an then Queens in the 70s an 80s when things were bad an still seems to be. He at a tender age saw people die like you did. He also had people break into their apt an steal all their food. He till this very day is RELIGIOUS about redeeming cans all because he remembers how at 11/12 yo he had to find cans to be able to get enough money to be able to eat that night.

Now i thankfully have never had it so hard in the subs of Mass. But i will say it is things like that, that made him an awesome husband great father. An provider. He worked his way through college while supporting his family to be an accountant. An he is also a loving sheppard in our congregation.

Moses may God be always by ur side an guide you through your wonderful endeavors.

Isa 41:13

Tym4me, thanks for the kind words.

I now live in Brooklyn, which has gotten nicer, believe it or not. I'm from spanish harlem, which was equally bad as 1980s brooklyn and queens at time. I still collect cans, coupons, and sleep far away from the window( which I am pretty sure your husband did for sometime)

I am doing very well with the exception of the weight (which will be off soon). But I managed to stay far from the pj's and out of trouble...

Again thanks for the love.

Hey Everybody.

My Name Is Moses. I am 24' date=' and I reside in NYC. I am 5'8" and 426lbs (30.4 Stone to my European buddies). I am a pre-med student. I am in the consultation process, however under the advice of my PCP (Dr. Linus Yoe), recommended track due to my high weight. I tried pretty much all the dieting stuff out there (Atkins, Weight Watchers, Vegan, No Carb, VLCD, etc) and lots of Weight Loss Pills( Hydroxycut, HCG Drops/Injections, TrimSpa, etc.). It doesn't work. Its obvious that my weight is dangerously high.

I am currently speaking to Dr. Javier Andrade, of the New York Bariatric Group, and he seems to me, like an awesome individual, and talented doctor.

I can't wait till I get this done..............................[/quote']

Hi Moses. I'm having surgery with Garber in the NYC office so it's outpatient. I'm happy to be able to go home after surgery. How's Andrade? That office is always SO busy. Good luck. My date is 5/30.

Hey y'all..

I wasn't expecting any more responses since I have posted this weeks ago, and I would assumed that this post would have been pushed back several pages....hehehe....Nonetheless, I wish you all, with deep sincerity the absolute best of luck with this life changing procedure. Thanks for the happy wishes.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
