I Think It's The Green Zone!

Recommended Posts

So I believe that after 6 or so fills, I am finally in the green zone! I now have to take itty bitty bites and must chew chew chew or I'll get stuck. I also had my first stuck episode this weekend and it was horrifying. Took about an hour to go down. I'm not excited about that but from that experience, I now know this thing is really working! I know that this could change at a drop of a hat, but I'm still excited to be here.. .for now. Just wanted to share! :-)

So, its taken me a few years to work up to this but if I have something get stuck I just stick my finger down my throat to throw up and it comes out. With two kids, I can't just sit around waiting for it to resolve. You may need to do liquids for a bit- dislodging/pb'ing/puking- can make yor band area a bit inflamed

My surgeon says that vomiting should be avoided at all costs, as it can cause your band to slip.

Mine said the same thing and I have no intentions of doing that. I can see why people would though because it's no fun being stuck but vomiting and slipping scares the bageezus outta me. I just really have to focus on eating small bites, because I honestly haven't head to worry about that until now.

The green zone is where you have enough restriction to eat comfortable, but just not very much. Eat very small bites and must chew tie food well so you dont get stuck. It takes everyone a different pace to get here. I, unfortunately, am very sensitive and any time I got a fill larger than .5 cc, I had to rush back for am unfill because I would swell up and couldn't even get Water down . So I only have 5cc after 6 months. I wish I head a better explanation for you. Anyone else?

I don't try to vomit- but when something gets stuck- it must come out. For me, it never just works its way through. Once you are a few months post of you really should be fine. Best not to, but if you have to- the quickest way is my fave

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
