Sos! Does Having A Cold Make You Tighter?

Recommended Posts

it feels like I have a slight cold coming on mostly nasal congestion/running, postnasal drip, and a sore throat...could barely sleep last night due to this pesky phlegm in my throat that seems to be going down like its stuck...I've been feeling super tight all day and even warm beverages felt funny going down...anyone have any experience with this? I recently had a small fill .75cc on Monday and was feeling fine prior to this...SOS...

It is the nasty phlegm. I read on here to drink something warm to help it go down. Hope you get to feeling better. Take care of yourself.

Absolutely! 3 weeks out I had awful shoulder and gas pain during an allergy attack, to the point where I had to have all of the Fluid that they put in the band during surgery removed (3cc). I now diligently take my allergy meds and use the Neti pot when there is alot of drainage. (So it doesn't reach my stomach!).

It doesnt make me tighter, but over the years I've seen enough people say so on here that its safe to assume its reasonably common.

It makes me tighter. I drink hot tea to soothe and go to liquids and mushies until it passes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
