How Much And How Long??

Recommended Posts

I was banded 12/23 i have had 2 fills. I think i have about 3.5cc in a 10cc band. My question is i am NOT starving between meals but i eat more then i should. For example yesterday we went to chilis and i got a margarita chicken i can eat the whole thing without feeling overly full. I go for another fill this wednesday (oh and i have lost almost 15 lbs since my last fill which was 6 weeks ago) so back to my question how much should i be eating to feel FULL i thought it was 1/2 cup???

In general, it's 1/2c.

For me it means 1/2c chewed solid food. For example, when I go to Chili's I drink a glass of wine or a margarita (drinking all of it before my first bite of food) and have a bowl of Soup. (they have very good soup) Depending on the type of Soup, I can eat the entire bowl which is more than 1/2c, but when I reach 1/2c of the solid parts I get my full signal.

My nutrionist always says we should be able to eat no more than a cup of food.

With that said, I can't eat that much. 1/2c to 2/3c of solids is the limit, any more than that, I get my full signal. Sometime even less, for instance I just tried to eat 2 hard boiled eggs and only got one bite of the second one and immediately got a lump in my throat.

The more fills you get the less you will be able to eat. I has the exact Same concerns at that stage too, but I'm At 7.0 and I can't eat much past 1/2 cup. Good luck.

Before you got to 7, how much were you able to eat? I'm currently at 6 in a 14 and I have little restriction. I've read lots of great comments on here and I know everyone is different, but I'm hoping fill 3 tomorrow is going to get me in the green.

My physician said 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of food each meal. Right now I'm around a 1/2 cup and my full signal comes and will last for 5-6 hrs. I am concerned because not getting in much food around 600-800 day with the Protein Shake. Scared of malnutrition but satisfied with weight loss so far.

My doctor never gave me food limits based on cups. You need to eat 3 oz of solid Protein per meal. That is probably at least 1/2 cup. Buy a good digital food scale. Measure out the protein and then eat low fat/cal veggies until full. Limit carbs like potato or bread. My doctor does allow me to have fruit.< /p>

I was in the same boat as you, but after my 4th ( i think ) fill, I could only eat a small fraction of what I was eating before. But with that restriction come vomiting, and being uncomfortable feeling after eating. At least for me. Best of luck to you!

Before the 7.0 I could do almost a full cup, but this fill made a big difference in my restriction

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
