I Think I'm A Lap-Band Failure!!

Recommended Posts

I am 3.5 years out from lapband and am feeling the frustration of losing right around 50lbs. I am trying to decide now if I want to try to get back on the bandwagon and go back and try to get a fill and see if I can start losing again or go for gastric bypass. I get so frustrated with myself for giving in to the old habits ( that seem to die hard). I know what I am doing wrong just can't seem to stop the poor choices most of the time. Getting back on this site hoping for some support and ideas

This whole journey is hard. But don't give up. You just have to keep at it and Celebrate the little victories. We are to hard on ourselves. One step at a time is the way to a victorious journey! We are addicts who unlike alcoholics can give up our addition completely. We need food to live. So we often have to fall off and get back on several times until we reach our often unrealistic goals. Let our first step as addicts to say I am going for being healthy and not thin... We see the stories and the pictures and the encourage and discourage us.... For the most part we have been on this journey so long it seems as it will never end... But the best part is that if we keep trying and working and keep faithful it will move in the right direction and soon you will find yourself feeling better and living like you never have before. Be encouraged my journey was long but it was worth it.... @ adoptmom

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
