Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

As some of you may know, I am in the pre stages of the Lap Band. First appt with surgeon not until April 19, but I have already began changing my eating habits in preparation for the surgery. I wanted to ask about Multivitamins. What is a good brand of Multivitamin to take before actually taking bariatric Vitamins, and when is the best time of day to take the vitamins? Thanks again for all responses and support!!

Centruim makes a chewable one, I eat 1 cenrium silver a day.

You can check out any health food store, they make liquid ones too.

Hope that helps

I also take Centrum chewable. I wanted to be used to the chewable type before my surgery. I take mine in the morning now but after my surgery, I will likely take it later in the day since many say the band is "tight" in the morning.

After I've used up this bottle, I am going to see what other types of chewable Vitamins are available. They don't taste horrible but seem chalky to me.

I bought liquid ones at the "Vitamin Store" not sure if you have one in your area. I think they were about $10. I am pre-op as well. They don't taste all that great....but since its liquid it goes down quick.

My doctor said NO Vitamins for 2 weeks post op!

When I was allowed to take Vitamins I was told Flintstone chewables with Choline (look for that!). As a woman of a certain age I also take Caltrate Plus with D chewables, dedicated Vitamin D Gummy and Fiber gummies (both by Vitafusion), also a dedicated Iron as I tend toward anemia.

I took One-A-Day gummies pre-op, flinstone chewables until about two weeks post-op and now I'm back to the one-a-day vitamins...that's all I was told I needed...

I use a product called life shotz and its fantastic! It comes in single serve powder sticks and you mix it with Water (it tastes like a fruity flintstone vitamin). Its the best vitamins/mineral in a drinkable form for us banders. Check out the website 21ten.com

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
