This too shall past, I went through the same thing when I got banded 13-Sept-2011, I tried everything and finally after a few days more like a week it passed. Just try walking as much as possible, gas strips, try some of the pain meds for discomfort if it gets too bad. It is one of those things that have to eventually go away on it's own.

I got banded on 3/23/12 too. I'm also having problems burping and a lot of pressure in my chest. I've been walking to try to help with the gas pain it seems to help a little.

This happened to me too! I think after a few days to a week I was able to burp again...it was something I wasn't expecting so I thought it was a problem too...I felt like my doc should have told me that would happen cuz it kind of worried me!

there is Mylanta and gaviscon....there is also alka seltzer, but it is fizzy so you might want to stay away from that one unless u let it go flat first!!! Mylanta helped me lots too!!!

I got banded 4 wks ago and I'm still having a really hard time burping. It creates some type of pressure in my chest when I drink or eat and I often make gurgling sounds (in my chest area) Does anybody know why is that and if that's going to go away?

I had this problem too, and still do if I eat too much. I took these chewable gas tablets from Wal Mart every hour or so. I can't remember the name of them, but they are near the bottom shelf where the gas-ex and stuff is. They work better than gas-ex (for me anywa) and are cheaper! It's in a white bottle with a yellow label. Also, I walked a lot. Don't worry if you can't burp, it'll just come out the other end! Haha! My sister and I had surgery the same day, she was able to burp just fine....we shared a hotel room (in Mexico) and she just loooooved me...hehe.

o.k... i know this works for me. a half cup of warm/hot Water, lots of fresh lemon juice squeezed in. i had two half cups last night, sipped over an hour or so. by bedtime the pain had gone. this morning when i got up there was no pain at all. i didnt have any more lemon juice, after lunch about 2pm the pain came back. so... i made up another lot of water and lemon juice. its now 3.30pm and no pain. ive not had any pain meds since sunday.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
