Yeah, I'm not in too much pain, but my body doesn't seem to be asking for much in the way of foods. I can tell I'm a little parched because my mouth is dry, but my tummy is full already so I don't want to over due the Water.< /p>

I just had some success. My doctors kept telling me to use nonfat or 1% milk for my Protein shakes. Turns out i can only keep it down if I mix it with Water. Bleh... but at least I am getting my Protein. From what I have been told is that you can't really over due the water. They said that as long as I am taking small sips I should just keep drinking to stay hydrated.

Its weird... I only get the nausea when I drink my Protein shake. When I walk around my shoulders hurt like crazy.

I was told at the hospital that the gas is whats making my shoulders hurt as well. Did you find that certain Protein shakes worked better than others?

I have not had the surgery yet but from what I've read from other they feel nauseated when drinking the shake when it's to thick. Most have been using Water instead of milk and or maybe you can add water if it's prepared already. BTW Congrats on the road to a new life!

a heating pad works wonders for everything - the gas pain and the incisions. It was truly a savior for me in the first 4-5 days after surgery when the gas was still killing me.

I am 31/2 weeks post op and I only had mild gas pain that was until week 2 and omg I have been in agony since with what felt like a stitch under left side rib cage it has now moved around to all around belly button area. It does get easier if I move around or if I lie down. My port has also flipped onto it's side I did see my surgeon last week who tried to turn it flat he did manage to access it though and said he would watch it closely, it's below. My breast bone.

Hey All, I had my band and plication on January 13, 2012. As of yesterday I have lost 40lbs. My highest weight was 268, and I am at 228 now. I had an adjustment yesterday as well. (I forgot to ask what he put in) I feel like everything is getting stuck today!

Hey Everybody!

Here's a little update with some questions. I got banded with plication on Monday and so far my stomach still feels like its in not. I have some slight pressure underneath my chest plate.

- Does anybody have experience with the skin under your eyes getting really dry? My skin is puffy, red, and dry under my eyes and I don't know what its from. I am drinking Water alllll day long non stop.

- The only success I have had with Protein is Peanut Butter. I take very very small bites and make sure it melts in my mouth. Does anybody know if this is okay? I will try to eat a Protein shake again today but so far the Peanut Butter makes me feel a little better.

I had band with plication on 3/20/2012. I have done well, but I am soooo hungry! Cory, what is your preop diet? Mine was supposed to be clears for the first 7 days. Only 1 ounce every 30 minutes while awake. Days 8-15 are able to add some thinned out oatmeal, yogurt, etc. I have cheated a little bit-- I ate some chicken breast tonight. I just chewed really well and took very small bites.

I am having some pain in my port site. I can feel it under my skin-- feels like a small egg. Planning on starting a walking program today, but it really hurts when I move in a certain direction. Also hurts when I cough, sneeze, laugh, or lie down with my legs out straight. I know tht sounds crazy. Will see my doctor a week from today. Hope I have lost some!!

Guitar

Put a warm wet tea bag on ur eyes for 10-15 min. That will help moisturize. U could also try cucumber slices but I prefer the tea bags. Sorry if that sounds girlie but, "when in Rome"...

the plication is an additional procedure. The doctor folds the stomach in and sutures it, making a smaller stomach. similar to the gastric sleeve, but stomach is not cut or removed.

I had the band+plication done on 1/24/12. I did not experience any nausea but I was in a lot of pain for several days. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and did not return to work until the following Monday. It took me about 3 weeks before I could start exercising again. You will be so glad that you opted for the plication!!!! Best decsion I ever made...I almost opted not to but changed my mind at the last minute. It has been 9 weeks and I have not had a fill yet. 25 lbs lost without a fill and not really even hungry.

Hang in there...good luck!!

Hey everyone!

I am sorry that it has been a little bit, I have been very busy with work. So far I have no more pain or nausea except where my port is. It feels like a bruise on my stomach. It's nothing too crazy, I only feel it if I bump it on something or if I fall asleep on my stomach. I have been eating a wide variety of mushy food which has been nice. I have finally been able to feel the full feeling again which has been surprisingly unpleasant. I don't have any fill at all so just from the plication I can eat maybe 3 to 4 ounces of food. If I over do it, i get an extremely painful feeling right behind my sternum. Another thing that has been weird is that you don't get the full feeling in your stomach or belly. You get it right below your sternum. It is very different than what I am used to. I think I will miss the "Belly" full. It is so much less satisfying to stuff myself. The hardest part of the whole process has been not being able to drink beer. I am not a big liquor fan at all but because I can't drink beer for a while I tried it out yesterday. I got really tipsy off of one long island. It was ridiculous! I haven't had any bread, Pasta or rice in what seems like forever and have been pretty okay without it. It is absolutely amazing how many things in this world are made with bread/pasta! You don't realize it until you can't eat it! Another hump that I don't know how to deal with is when I go out to eat the server always ask's if I didn't like the food. Because of how big of a guy I am it looks very unnatural for me to only eat 1/8 of the food I am given, and I still can't bring myself to order off of the kids menu (mostly because I can't eat any of it yet,) and because I don't want to have to explain to my server why I am doing so.

That's about all that I can think of right now! I will make sure to update more frequently. Thank you for all of the awesome support, it really got me through my first week.

- Cory

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
