Long Story, But I Need A New Ending.

Recommended Posts

4 years ago i had a band placed in Mexico. It was a great experience and I was very happy and sucessful. A year after the band was in i was in a car accident and got hurt which interupted my excercising. Ive lost about 50 lbs. While recuperating (and a mild case of depression) i fell off the wagon. Also, in that time frame i had an over-fill which was very scary and painful. I haven't had another fill since then, 2+ years ago. To date i've learned to eat around the band. I can eat almost anything and while it may take abit longer i can consume far to much food for a bandie.

I know all the rules, i know the suggested restrictions.

I am getting back to a healthy body and after 3 surgeries to fix the car accident damage i will begin exersizing soon again. My biggest problem is my fear of the fill that is needed. I have the small band and the difference of 1 cm made the difference between swallowing and the inability to swallow my saliva.

I have maintained my weight loss. My weight varies 3-4 lbs from my lowest.

Has anyone else stalled out and been able to get back on track? With sucess?

I'm a bit frustrated, scared and somewhat reluctant.

That is fantastic you have kept the weight off despite surgeries because of the car accident. You have conquered a huge set back. I am glad things are getting back to normal. I know what you mean about scared to get a fill. I too found that a very small fill- even .1cc brought me from hunger to getting sick on protien shakes, never mind food. You can get a smaller fill than a whole cc. Like I said, my doc has done .1. I would go in to your dr. and talk about a fill. Tell him/he exactly what's going on. Again, just not gaining weight back is just awsome. And think, you'll be able to excersise again soon. Best wishes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
