Fell Off The "band Wagon" After One Year, But Getting Back On! Any Help?

Recommended Posts

Well, we have to live life along the way too. So enjoy vacation just make good choices as much as you can..I have thought lately that if I want a goodie that isn't on my eating plan, it has to be the best quality and fresh. No more stale donuts just cuz they are there.

I do know that I will never be super large like some folks I see around. And that was really scaring me before I got my band.

So Im gonna go at it again this week and see if I can't do better.

I liked what you said about not being huge. EVER. And I could have gone that way. In my previous self. Not now. Worked too hard. For too many years..... to go back to being so tired. And not liking ME. That being said. Life is about choices. And a cocktail shall be my choice next week!,,with diet lemonade

Hi - right there with you!!! I had to have band re-done after my band prolapsed in Sept 2011 -I had lost down to about 163/size 10/12 and was very happy w/ that! I guess after the surgery I thought - oh it's just a little bit of extra food/for a little bit of time. Tons of stress/depression like you said - relationship of 8+ years ended, adult child in re-hab, raising 2 grandkids and here we are now - at 227! Finally w/this weeks fill I feel some restriction which is such a blessing! But like you said... the hardest part of all is.. the head hungry! It is terrible - I realize that especially at work - which is also a high stress job - I have been eating almost non-stop from noon until the end of the day - my new addiction - granola/trail mix - which in itself isn't bad unless you eat the entire bag!

So while I am glad to know that I am not the only one fighting "Head Hunger" I am sorry that you are here with me. So here we go let's beat this!!!

Take care Leslie

Well' date=' I have been gone for a while from here, but it's time to come back. I was banded a year ago in November and did not meet my one year goal. I am happy with the success I had, 50 lbs. lost in one year, but I could have done better. I was trying for 80, but the last several months were difficult and I "fell off" the wagon. I became very stressed at work and depressed at home. Two of my reasons for overeating. I have been doing all of the wrong things....not measuring, not getting in my Water, not exercising, snacking at night, and drinking wine!!! So, yes I know exactly why I didn't reach my goal, I just stopped caring for a while I think. I have gotten fills, periodically, but more recently I wasn't physically hungry, it was "head hunger". So, my last fill was a few weeks ago. I have 7.9 ccs in my 10 cc band. It's very tight and I have good restriction. Now it's time to get back on track. I had gotten down to 181, but have gained 9-10 lbs. in the last 2 months. So I am now determined to get back to the basics and meet my goal of 150 by summer! I tend to beat myself up, like many of you do. But, I wonder if there are others out there who have had a similar experience. Have any of you bandsters done well for a while and then just stopped acting like you even had a band at all, gained some weight back, then gotten back on track? It's always helpful to hear that you're not the only one out there that has done this. Thank in advance for any support. :-)[/quote']

I believe it is common to not continuously do "we'll". It takes awhile for some of us to reconcile years of bad habits and thoughts. The band offers long term "success" tho. Whatever that means. Keeping off weight. Long term. Not the up down cycle we all know and hate. Just my 2 cents

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
