wow, I am feeling blessed with my pre op diet of low carb eating for these 2 weeks, after reading that many of you can only have liquids, preop. I just started my pre op last Wednesday. As of this past Monday, I had already lost 5 lbs. I have to deal with the liquid stages after surgery so I'm very thankful I don't have to do only liquids before. It's hard enough to stay under 40 carbs some days. Breakfasts get really boring with low carb options, but I am determined not to cheat, even a little. Didn't even have a piece of my mom's Birthday cake. It looked sooooooo delicious, but I wanted to be sure my liver shrunk for the surgery. I am nervous enough without adding to it with my careless eating. Having said that, I did add a no carb protein shake after my gym workout today. It was actually quite tasty. I wish you all well with your surgeries and your weight loss efforts.

I started today also and I'm starving now! This is the time I usually look for a snack.. I guess it will break many habits I have ;) I can have 5 Optifast shakes a day and optifast bars. I will have 1/2 bar at lunch and another at dinner with a shake. I noticed if I put the shake in the blender with ice it helps the taste and thickness.

Are you guys allowed to eat on this diet?? I was told just the optifast but I'm not sure how I'm going to be. I mean can one do this ?? lol

Every doctor is so different on what they want the pre-op diet to be. I have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch then get to eat a Lean Cuisine or grilled fish or chicken with steamed veggies for dinner. I am considering myself really lucky compared to some of the diets I have read on here. The skim milk one for two weeks was the worst I have heard :( It will all be worth it! Hang in there!!

Ok so I am at work today day 5 of my pre op diet and they are having a pot luck... uuuggghhhhh ok I can do this.....

I am not suppose to make my protein shakes with milk of any kind. Only water. No solids here only liquids. If you add protein to your SF pudding, how much pudding mix do you add?

I am on day 3 and my stomach is doing some really bad things. Anyone else having this problem?

We had a potluck at work yesterday too. It was so difficult. These two weeks are deprivation. At least afte the band we can have a "taste" of some things. The deprivation is a hard mental game in my opinion.

I see me surgeon next week to find out about his pre-op diet. You all have me scared and dreading it now. Lol.

I do the box of sugar and fat free pudding follow the directions and add 2 scoops of tasteless protein powder. 1/2 cup per serving gives you 4 servings...

7 more days before surgery!! 7 days on this pre-op diet. Although I know I will pretty much be on the same diet after surgery I will be able to add a few foods!! Thank you jesus!! Almost there....

6 more days for me, then an all clear liquid diet. The end is in sight!! I can do this!! I never thought I would be looking so forward to chicken broth, sprite and apple juice! These protein shakes are killing me!! All worth it! I'm sucking it up:)

I am on the all clear liquid diet now but also protein shakes... which will be the same diet after except I will be able to add soft foods...

wow, I don't know how I missed knowing about the pre-op diet! I'm waiting on my insurance approval, so after that comes in I see my doc. I guess that's when I'll start my pre-op diet. Good luck everyone - I know I'm going to need it!

I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow...I get a shake for breakfast and lunch, I can have two pieces of fruit, and a ww meal for dinner. Oh and I can have all the broth, sf jell-o and sf popsicles I want. It's going to be rough but I am more then ready to get this started.

I will get the details of my liquid diet Friday. I have been on two protein shakes and a sensible dinner for three weeks as prep (I chose to get ready like this). I am sure I will survive the two weeks pre-surgery, but cannot image going from all regular food to liquids overnight.

Good luck everyone, I am sure we can do this. And staying in touch will help!!
