3 Days Until Surgery And I'm Losing It..help!

I'm being banded February 15th (next Wednesday!!) and i've been on a clear liquid diet since February 7th..I've been really struggling with this and not doing so well..but now it's just getting unbearable. I'm only allowed jello, broths and isopure. I'm suppose to be getting atleast 2-2 1/2 bottles of isopure down a day and the last couple days i've only been able to get down 1/2 a bottle..it dries my mouth out SO bad and my throat to the point it feels like I'm choking, it's so wierd. Everytime I go to drink isopure, sip some broth or have some jello I feel on the verge of gagging I'm so sick of it. So I've yet to eat anything today, I don't think I'm ever going to want to see this stuff ever again and what really upsets me is lots of people only had to do clear liquids the day before surgery and me doing it for a week and I'm already sick of it, and I have to do it another week after surgery? I am so hungry right now but i'd rather starve right now than eat/drink anymore of that crap. I hate sounding so weak and pitiful but this has got to be one of the hardest things i've ever done... :(

  • I am having my surgery on the 20th and I have been on my pre-op diet since the 6th. It's five protein shakes (OptiFast) a day.... that's it. Pre-op diet's suck but it's going to be worth it in the end

  • Im hearing you, l also have my lap band on the 15th. I have been on optislop as they call it for 2 weeks and l just want a piece of toast with real butter, just one will do.... I agree one of the ha

Very cool, where are you being banded at?

And my doctor told me that I could add a little sugar free chocolate or strawberry syrup to them and I've found that helps a bit.

Being banded here in Little Rock, Arkansas by Dr. Baker. The first week I could have pickles? Now just my shakes. I can add sugar free jello mix with it I I want. It's all too sweet. Right now my fat free chicken broth is heaven. I keep telling myself.. I think I can I think I can.

Blech, I can't have anything other than the shakes : ( poo. But hey, I asked for it when I decided to have the surgery! We only have one more week! I'm in Olathe, Kansas by Dr. Opie. He's had a lot of success with his patients and he offers a lot of good post op support so I'm hoping for the best, though I am his youngest patient! Keep in touch and let me know how your surgery goes! : )

im so sorry you have to go through this ! maybe call your dr and see if you can have anything else like sugar free pudding , popsicles, diabetic foods etc ?? i was banded 8 weeks ago, down 15 lbs but i had a very easy time pre-op. dr just told me if i could lose weight before surgery , great but dont gain any ! i lost 6 lbs, 9 more after surgery. 2nd fill tomorrow. this has all been very smooth with no problems. hope the next few days go quickly for you- be thinking of you on weds ! good luck !!

I so understand where you are at! I am scheduled for surgery Thursday 2/16 and I have been on shakes for 2 weeks. ughh I dreamt about bacon again last night...thought I was going to eat my pillow...at least then I could chew! I keep reminding myself that this is a test for the rest of my life....if I can make it through this when I get the help of the band it will be even easier. You can do it...hang in there and 12 lbs is awesome...you will never see those 12 lbs again!

jennxaz you are so right! This is a test for the rest of our lives. We can all do it, we all want to. And every pound lost is a pound we will never see again R.I.P. fat! Good luck Thursday. Mine is Friday! And mrsmeyers good luck to you on Wednesday. We can do it. We are strong capable women!! ( I am trying to set up this damn ticker, so if it doesn't wrk and something funky happens, sorry)

Im hearing you, l also have my lap band on the 15th. I have been on optislop as they call it for 2 weeks and l just want a piece of toast with real butter, just one will do.... I agree one of the hardest things l have had to do, so hard when you have to cook dinner for the family, almost over, perhaps l shouldnt say that as its fluids again for a couple of weeks after the band.... Think positive, positive, positive thats what l get trying to tell myself...... Goodluck...

LOL... I am on optislop also and have been for almost 2 weeks. I have surgery the day after you on the 16th. This Optifast has been so hard to do but we are almost there. Good luck to you all...

Good luck to all of you getting ready to go in for surgery in the weeks ahead! I had mine on Friday, and so far, so good...

my dr's nurse told me some people can't handle more than 1 a day, (me for one) I was supposed to drink 4, but I was able to drink one and I still lost 26 lbs, so do not fear, if you don't get them all down.. just keep drinking what you can!
