Howdy everyone..

It's been a long journey but I'm moving on a resolved to get this done..

In 2008, I was approved and had a surgery date set..then my boss sent me overseas on assignment, it was a situation where I had to go or lose my job. I wasn't banded obviously and went on about life....Move on to 2010, new job and now unfortunately my wife left me, same situation..struggling with weight and frustrated.. tried for re-approval, denied because new insurance didn't cover it.

Here we are in 2012.. new outlook, new AWESOME job..other personal changes that have been positive.. lost some weight, done pretty good but kept thinking I need to use being banded as a tool to push me to the next level. I visited True Results for the 3rd time and wouldn't you know it, my insurance covers everything! So, at my initial consult this past Thursday I went through all the steps.. nutrition, blood work, psych eval..everything. Now just waiting for formal approval from my insurance company.

I'm excited and horrified at the same time.. I've never had surgery and it scares the crap out of me..but this is FOR ME and what I need to do.

Nothing to be scared about.

It WILL change your life forever, so are you ready for that?

You won't be able to over eat like you may now, and you will probavly have to say goodbuye to some of your favorite foods.

But the rewards are incredible!

Hey Max! Congrats on all the positive things going on in your life. This too was my first surgery and I was scared out of my mind!! I knew I had to do this though or I would never forgive myself so I just let the nurses do their thing. I woke up and was like "Is it over?" My surgery went quite smoothly and apparently most of them do. Trust in your surgeon and his/her staff and let the rest be a piece of cake. No pun intended! Good luck on your journey.

@sandymax thank you, for so long I put everyone else first, which is good but, let myself decline. It is my time.

@52 thanks.. I'm ready for it, very resolved in my mind and know everything is coming. Just nervous about the actual surgery.

@Mis thank you, it's been a long road and a very emotional bunch of years, lots of personal loss and emotional turbulence. I'm ready to take control.

@Chrys thank you very much, we can all make a list of our blessing and they far outweigh the negative..it's time I realized that and move on. Yes, I'm HORRIFIED about surgery, in fact, I'm a fainter when I have to give a blood sample! I too, feel like you.. if I don't do this, I will never forgive myself.

Wow.. It is really going to happen.. I received an email from TR that I was approved and they sent it to the Surgeon.. I spoke with them today and I could have pre-op on a Wednesday and surgery the following week! I wasn't expecting it to be that fast.. I have to figure out my work/travel schedule and get this scheduled...it has finally hit me and the reality is here!

Honestly? The surgery is very quick. The only thing a lot of us have trouble with is the gas/air they use to fill us up for laparoscopic surgery. Recovery itself isn't horribly bad either. Just sore.

You've had a long road to get to the point you're at, so I would say a big congrats is in order!! You'll be happy with your decision! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
