Hey, I am new to this site. But im not new to the idea of lap band, I have been reseaching this for a while. Ive been to a doctor meeting here in Texas, but they didnt accept my insurance. So I am looking for a doctor who will accept BCBS, but is also a great doctor. Anyone know a local Ft Worth (maybe Dallas) doctor? Im ready to get this done and get on with my life. Thanks for any :help: you can give me. Jen

Welcome to LBT, Jen. There's a bunch of great bandsters in the DFW area that will have you feeling like one of the gang in no time. I admire their group. Best of luck to you and keep us all posted on how things are going for you!

I am also new in finding a doctor in the Fort Worth area that BCBS will accept. I found Dr. Adam Smith if you do a yahoo search type in lap band in Fort Worth Texas and he will come up. I am going to attend his free meeting in march that is in Weatherford and check him out. I found a few other doctors but they are not in the Fort Worth area that BCBS accepts. If you need that info let me know. Best of luck to you. Oh yea another thing I found amusing about Dr. Smith is that he himself is banded just thought you might want to know.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
