Can you tell me what the name of the prescription stuff is??? have 4 scars and there are darker than my skin. I was banded on 12/12/11. My husband who was banded a week before me is completely healed, you can't even tell he had surgery. SO UNFAIR! My doctor told me to use pure Vitamin e and I decided to use mederma. It has help a bit but I think I am going to splurge on the silicone sheets like scar away. Also you have to constantly apply the Vitamin e and mederma to see some sort of results. Also the vitamin e will stain your shirts so careful.

Here is the vitamin e I use http://www.drugstore...00-iu/qxp186909

regular mederma

http://www.livestron...with-vitamin-e/

I looking for any suggestions or solutions myself. THANKS!

I was banded on the 6th and I have 5 incisions. My biggest worry was keloids and so far I seem to have avoided that. My doctor used dissolvable stiches and covered the incisions with surgical tape that stayed on for a little over a week. The biggest issue I have is that they are darker than my skin so right now I'm using skin whitener and some over the counter scar treatment cream on them. My sister also gave me some perscription stuff that she had but I haven't started using it yet.

Mine are not there anymore ! Even the fill Dr. has to look for the scar, and TRY ! to find it.

So I just show him where it's at, and he feels for the Port..

My PCP said can I see your Port I said of course. She can't see the scar at all..

That's 2 different Doctors.

I am two weeks post op and I have one large incision over my belly button and smaller one on my left side. Then three more "poke holes". One is under my breast. They're all healing really well. The biggest problem I have is that they gave me a lot of heparin in surgery (blood thinner) and I "leaked" for days. Plus they used dissovlable stitches and super glue to close them. So there's a lot of goop on top of each incision. But they look really healthy.

I had my band in jan 24 and I was told not to mess with strips over incisions, that they would fall/slough off themselves. Here it is 10 days later and several showers later and they are still on, is that normal that they stay on so long?whistle.gif

Yep ! They will fall off in time or your Dr. will remove them on your visit.

That's what mine did anyway.

But it's NORMAL!

YEP! Mine took forever to come off. Almost 2 weeks. I tried to take one off myself bad mistake it look that it was going to open up again so I put the strip back on.

My surgeon used super glue too. I have 4- one big one by my belly button and 3 others- one to hold up my liver, one for the camera and one for the instruments.

I think they'll fade, and like someone else said, my stretch marks are worse :)

I had 5 incisions and all the scars seem to be fading except the one across my stomach. That one still is bright red... :/ oh well its only been 4 months so maybe as the years go by it will fade away?

I'm 3 years post-op and my stomach is covered in stretch marks, which are far more noticeable than my surgical incisions. My port scar healed up to less than an inch, and you really have to look for it among all my stretch marks. I'm sure the incisions would bother me / be more noticeable if not for all of the stretch marks.....Did I mention all my stretch marks? Haha

How funny! I just checked mine myself and thought the same thing! I see stretch marks but had to look real close to see my scars! It's all good!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
