Popcorn, Nuts, And Gum

Recommended Posts

My doctor says no gum but I thought it had to do with extra air getting in the stomach.

I eat tooo many nuts and now that I am at what I think is my green zone, I get my fill of them much quicker than before. popcorn and gum have never been a problem. I even swallowed my gum once while banded. Honestly I was so nervous, but like anything else it passed eventually. I chew gum every single weekday while at work, but I only chew half a stick at a time which worked in my favor when I swallowed it.

thanks everyone. I've only been banded since 12/30/11 and haven't had the nerve to try any of them. I also like to chew gum while at work, and while exercising. I love almonds and in the past snacked on them while at work, but forgot to ask about all three while at my follow up appointment last week. I don't go back until 2/16. Thanks again everyone!

I can and do eat them all....I believe the "no gum" rule is because if you swallow it, as mentioned it could be a big problem. But I never do, so I don't worry about it. Sometimes it just helps to chew something!

Never heard no gum. I chew it to ease anxiety mostly at work so I can refocus and not eat stupidly. I have swallowed gum since I was under the age of 10.

No nuts as per the medical team. popcorn I can have but need to be mindful that I might all of the sudden not tolerate. But I don't eat a lot of it anyway.

What is interesting is that my NP tells me I can try all foods but need to watch the tolerance thing. My 1st nutritionist was very black and white about what to eat (kinda like out of the manuel) so if a raw nut slips in, it's not biggie. But I don't eat them unless they are in butter form.

Does anyone else have no sausage on their "do not eat" lists? I was told no because the casings don't break down to slip through. Just wondering.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
