Average Weight Loss After Fill

Recommended Posts

So what is an average weight loss per week after a fill. I had my first fill yesterday and the NP said that I would probalby only loss about a pound a week til my next appointment in a month. Is this normal? I was hoping for more weight loss in a month.

I had my first fill ( 1 cc) January 12th , two weeks ago, and I have only lost maybe 2 lbs (if that). So what you're saying sounds about right to me. My doc didn't say how much I would lose per week or anything. He just said "you will only lose some" until you get proper restriction (whatever "some" means). I think we probably shouldn't compare ourselves to others about losing weight and fills cause some people start with Fluid in their band while others (like me) started with nothing. Some people have larger bands as far as cc's (like I do) and others have smaller bands. Some people start out at 400 lbs other are 200. Obviously if you started out at 300 lbs you will lose a lot faster in the beginning than someone who has less to lose. It's all relative so DON'T DRIVE YOURSELF NUTS WITH COMPARISONS. SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE DOING JUST FINE!

I had my first fill 4 weeks after surgery.

I had my second fill 4 weeks after that.

Between the first and second fill I gained weight!

Two reasons. First, the first fill did absolutely nothing! Nada! Second, 4 weeks was the mark to come off mushies and onto regular food. So without any restriction what else would one expect?

After my 2nd fill I began to loose weight again, and had some restriction, but it came and went.

Third fill was the charm! That was last may, and have not had a fill since. I am honestly in the Green Zone, experiencing everything I hoped it would be.

No appetite, automatic Portion Control, steady weight loss, and patient satisfaction. My Dr. agrees, and I only see him every 3 months now.

I don't count calories, I don't measure or weigh foods, and I eat whenever I want, which isn't all that often.

I am what they call a slow loser. It took me 7 months to get restriction. 8 months after that I felt I needed a fill so i got one. Normally doctors say 1-2 pounds per week is an average weight loss. I had lost about 100 pounds presurgery so it does not suprise me that I am more of a 0-1 pounds per week. You did not gain the weight overnight and you won't loose it overnight.

Well lets be honest with ourselves. That is what everyone is aiming for. Why else would we endure surgery. For another diet?

Finally I have good restriction. 4 or 5 small bites and I am done. I have lost ok but now maybe I can drop that last 20.

Well the NP did say about a pound a week, But right now I feel good restriction after only one day. It seems like a eat a few bites and feel full so that is good. Realistically want to loss about 50lbs which I know I can do over time. Just need to be patient. Thanks for replies.

For those of you with fills you are getting enough calories & nutrients a day with just a couple bits per meal? Are you only eating 3 meals a day?

I use fusion and take 2 chewable tabs a day. Eat my protien first and have atleast 3 Protein Shakes a week. First time I have had such good restriction that I have to drink Water slower.

I have had 4 fills since November 4/11. I find that it takes about 2 weeks for me to feel the full effect of a fill. I am finally closer to the Green Zone now. I can still eat a cup of food or there abouts, but I actually feel satisfied with that amount. Everyone is different and feel different with each fill. The band is not a quick fix, it is meant to be used as a tool along with a healthy(ier) lifestyle. I have lost 21 lbs since my surgery and I couldnt be happier. Sure I want it gone fast, but I know thats not realistic. Sounds like you are doing just fine! You'll get there, no worries.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
