Scheduled For Feb 3Rd!

Recommended Posts

I am so excited that I have found this site! I have been reading success story posts everyday for the last month and finally decided to register on this site. Your success stories have made me very excited about my journey. I scheduled my surgery today for Feb. 3rd. I have been amazed at how smoothly the process, of getting approved, has gone. I prayed about having lap band for over a year and a half before I ever attended a seminar and truly believe this is the path that Lord has led me to.

Please share any advice you have for the week pre-op and the first few weeks post-op.

So excited for you! I was banded September 29th and I remember all those crazy feelings right before. The day I had my surgery, I began my journey to better health.

My advice is to relax as much as you can. Stock up on Protein drinks, clear broth and popsicles. Maybe begin a LapBand journal. Remember that the band is a tool, not a miracle cure. But, it is the best thing that has happened to me concerning my health. I've only lost about twenty pounds, but, I feel great. Plus, my latest bloodwork is "outstanding" according to my doctor.

Best of luck!

Hello! My surgery is scheduled Feb. 6th, 2012, so I am right behind you!! I'm on day 4 of the liquid diet, so things are getting a little better since I've lost some of my appetite! I kinda feel like I might puke if I have to eat more Jello or eat another shake! I'm trying to come up with some creative ideas for this liquid diet, but no success so far! I just joined this website tonight and it's great to see what other people have to say about this! Keep me posted on how you're doing!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
