I am almost four weeks out and I tried chopped up mushed chicken. I put it in the chopper and added some Tomato sauce for wetness. Well...it did not agree with me. I ended up throwing part of it up. Not to be descriptive but it was partially digested. Not directly back up as some banders described. I also had heartburn all night and had to take some malox. That was the first time since the surgery. I had a hernia fixed and have not have heartburn since that night. Was the chicken too heavy for me? Did I eat too much? I only ate 3 oz. Anyone else have that experience? I am on mushy foods and the nutritionist said that it was OK to eat as long as it is the consistance of flaked tuna fish. As always, your comments are very helpful. Thanks.

I have been banded for almost 4 yrs. I would guess it was dry, you ate too fast or maybe too much. It takes time & patience to firgure when & what you can eat. remember to chew chew chew, eat slowy & stop when you begin to feel full!

Good luck!

I love my band!

I know I have a hard time with chicken if I eat too fast. I now prefer boneless, skinless thighs compared to breast meat. Put them in the crockpot with a can of cream of whatever Soup and it is good!

White meat chicken is a no-go for me, period. Dark meat is good.

Whenever I bring up something that is stuck, it is not identifiable by appearance. It is a mix of slime (mucous) and chewed food.

It's possible that a piece was not ground or chewed well enough. After an episode like that, I have heartburn. Things just get raw and irritated. Take it easy for a while. I tend to stick to liquids/mushies the next day, depending on how I am feeling.

The Tomato sauce also could be helping the heartburn be worse than normal. It has a lot of acid, if I don't take my prilosec, I can't do any kind of tomato product.

I know for me, you have to take it reeeaaaalll slow, with small bites, and learn to recognize the warning signals to stop.

Learning how to eat all over again is a very important lesson. It can be like walking on egg shells sometimes.

dark meat is moister for me. I use low fat mayo. I use smaller forks and chew chew chew. then i chew some more.

Papaya tablets also help with digestion.

I can't do the white meat, it has to be the dark meat. It is more moist, and that alone helps.

I would try something other then tomatoe Sauce.

Low Cal Ranch, and Low Cal mayo, or :Lo Cal Miracle Whip.

Also try only a little at a time to see what you can handle.

I have only been able to do a very small amount of dark meat even in Soup. White meat is just too dry. Good luck

Thanks for all the information. No more white meat for me. I will try chicken thighs, which I prefer anyway, in a couple of weeks. I have no desire for chicken right now at all after that episode. Laughing Cow low fat cheese in the microwave...interesting. Going to try that as wall. Thanks everyone!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
