Dont Judge/what Do I Eat?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have done all the classes and had the surgery. I begin solids on Monday and I am scared because I have no clue what to eat. I just got my 1st fill today. Everywhere I read says no bread, no Pasta, no this, no that....so what can I actually eat and enjoy! I hate eggs...just thought I would put that out there. I have been doing blueberry banana smoothies with a 1 scoop of Protein. I can normally drink an 18oz cup of that in about 40 mintues. Am I drinking too much? I feel so lost! I want to be successful at this so I welcome any comments!

Crystal

I eat chicken, fish, ground beef, Beans of all kinds, veggies, I have a bit of a problem with thick meat but if it is a thin cut and I cut it up really small then I can eat most any meat. Yes I miss the bread Pasta and all that but it sure makes it easier to lose weight, not eating all that. My daughter in law is also banded and when she makes spaghetti for her family she puts her sauce over a baked potato. (yep I eat potatoes baked) I have had times where I ate bad stuff and usually ended up not being able to get more than one bite down then stuck. It is best to leave the baddies alone. Hope all this helps you some.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
