Iband.. Questions About It..

Recommended Posts

I got the Iband on 12-29-11 and it hasent quite been one month yest but everything seams to be going normal as befor the band. My question is There will be no Fluid put into the band untill after one month cause Dr. said he didnt want to fill band intill body gets adjusted to it. But i have no restriction so is it possable to strech my stomach out? the part that was folded and sewn up? I do get full alot faster but it just dont last long then im hungery again. Also no wt. lose yet. Im guessin I just need to stay patient and it all will come together soon.. Any storys are welcomed to hear.. Thanks

i am a slow loser, but i also have hypothyrodism. i was banded may 20, 2011 and i have lost 35 pounds and gone from a size 20 to a 16. wishing it was more, but at least i'm not where i used to be. it took me 5 fills and 2 emergency unfills to get to my current restriction. the first 4-6 weeks are about healing so dont expect much weight loss. i was on an altered diet for the first month out and really had no appetite for the first 3 weeks. be patient with yourself and the band. feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. best wishes to you.

No not really. You are on liquids, and then mushies anyway, so it all kind of falls through without restriction.

Make sure you measurer your portions, and take your time.

I think I am confused by the OP's question... I am not banded yet, so I guess I am not understanding what part of lapband surgery involves folding and sewing up your stomach....?

The iband is different in that in addition to getting the band the stomach is folded into a sleeve shape and sutured which is called plication. It is a newer procedure and not all doctors offer it

I got the iband on the 6th and my doctor also didn't put any Fluid in my band. I don't think that it is possible to stretch the stomach out, if you did you wouldn't get full quickly, I'm surprised to hear that you get hungry quickly, I find that I don't have much hunger between meals. What stage of foods are you on?

I think that one you are on more solid food you will not get hungry as quickly

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
