Hey there people!! I was banded in July 2011 and have felt great since!! I haven't lost much weight since Thanksgiving because I have only had one fill and it lasted about 6 weeks before I went back to normal. Had to cancel the last two appts. due to my work schedule. ANYWAY...my problem is port sensitivity. I have had a habit for years of resting things on my belly which is now where my port is. ( under my left breast/rib cage) It feels different from when I originally had it done so I was scared that it has flipped or I had a hernia. I think I ruled out the hernia because I don't have any bulging or soft spots around it. It's almost like I pulled the muscle that it's attached to and it feels like a bruise all the time. Is this normal or should I be worried that something is wrong?? I will be asking my DR once I get back in the office but just thought I'd try all of you first. Please let me know...Thanks!!!

You can easily irritate it by resting things on it...dont do that! But I doubt you have hurt it at all. I surf (badly) and it gets kind of bruised because now that I am thin it really sticks out...but it works fine and thats all I care about!

My port is directly above my belly button, and I too tend to rest things on it. I also have sensitivity in that area, especially after a fill. Doesn't really hurt at the injection site, but lower like actually in the belly button. It's weird, but I attribute it to scar tissue and healing. I was banded in May 2011.

My port is a couple inches below my belly button. I tend to lean up against the counter when I'm cooking and it hurts! I think it's because there's less fat around the port site to protect it, and I'm definitely not complaining about that!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
