Doctor Visit Nsv/and The Negatives Around It.

Recommended Posts

I had my six week follow up with my primary care physician today. I like it when the nurse walks in and tells me I need a new picture for their file. I don't look like the original they took a year ago. teeth_smile.gif The doctor was happy with my current weight loss. So that was the good news...

...Little did he know that I am at the same weight I was two weeks out of surgery.

I didn't handle the Christmas holiday very well at all. I've tried to refocus this past week but am not having much luck. I feel like I could eat everything and anything, and sometimes catch myself doing just that. I've tried asking myself why I'm eating just to give myself a chance to put whatever I have down. That worked well for a while. Now I am eating because I can. I feel hungry a lot more often and there isn't any restriction to help.

I don't go in for a fill until January 4th and it feels so far away. Somehow, I have to get through the weekend without completely losing it. I told myself I would be the same weight, if not less, on January 4th that I was at my two week checkup. As of this very moment, I'm losing that wage with myself. Instead of being down, I'm actually up two pounds. It makes me want to cry. I thought I could be stronger during this four week stretch.

So while I love the reaction of the doctor and the nurse, I'm not happy with how I'm feeling right now. I don't want to be hungry anymore. I want to be able to eat a few bites of something and walk away from the table, not belly up for more.

don't sweat it, sometimes people do gain a few pounds before their first fill and the surgeons will even tell you this happens. The holidays make it hard for all of us food addicts but forgive yourself and move on doing what you know you have to do. You will get there.

" I want to be able to eat a few bites of something and walk away from the table, not belly up for more. "

I don't want to be a downer but being banded is not about being able to eat like a bird. Based on my doctors orders of eating 3 oz of solid Protein and veggies and fruit per meal; that is going to be more than a few bites. The reason I'm saying this is I read so many posts where people say they are full on just a few bites. Eating what I listed above is more than a few bites. Once I've eaten my meal can I have a 2 bites of dessert and feel satisfied YES.

Not to be a cliche but this is a life style and journey. Don't feel to bad the band will help you once you start having fills. But it can take a while so don't feel to bad.

I am right there with u. I am a little over 3 weeks out and I am hungry! I can't wait for my first fill next week. I need some restriction to help slow me down. I am not expecting magic but I am eating more than the 6oz my doc says should be enough. Well, it's not! I eat more like 8-12 oz. !!!!

i was banded dec 13th and im having the exact same prob as you. however i was told to expect this as i would regain my appetite and poss gain back a little before my 1st fill and checkup on jan 9th. this is a "temporary setback", and not to worry about it. if my first fill is the right amount for me then i will start losing weight. if its not then it may take time to fine tune my band. in the meantime i was told this is the healing phase and not neccesarily the loosing phase. keep this in mind so you dont look upon this as a "failure". its not, its temporary !! youre doing great if youre healing ! keep your chin up and good luck on future nsv's !!!! ive had one or two already , arent they great ??

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
