Dh and i were done two years apart. Its neither here nor there for us in tems of it being an advantage, we are both completely different in our approach. Dh is less proactive and lets his band do the work, i was very much in charge of my band. Consequently i lost 120% of my excess weight and dh lost about 65%. He is happy with that though, whereas i wouldnt be. And we dont exercise together, he is waaaaay too lazy for me!

it might be easier if you have them a few months apart. I know my husband helped me so much after the surgery.

we have dogs, I couldn't bend down to get their food, I could lift one of them, he did the vacuuming for me. So many other things that I really appreciated!

I believe it will be a while before we get anything done . We attended the seminar a couple of weeks ago and set up the consultation . I have Bluecross blueshield whitch requires a lot of stuff to get approved for surgery 6 month supervised diet.

Definitely have the procedure at least a month apart. For the first few days, I needed my husband's help because I kept experiencing "turtle syndrome" (as he called it). I'd get stuck on my back and I couldn't get out of bed. It was hilarious and laughing hurt!

My husband had his surgery April 1st and I had mine August 19. He says it's the best decition ever, because it made our life so much easier, we now understand what we can and can't eat. He is down 98lbs and I'm down 44lbs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
