Lap Band Talk Newcomer

Hello everyone, my name is Amy from Florida and was banded 11-08-11. I'm looking for others to be in touch with for support on this new and wonderful life journey. I am very excited and at the same time a little stressed. I think it is because I'm not sure what to expect. I have my first fill on Dec 20th and hope I do well with it. Best of luck to everyone on your new life!

Hello, I am a newbie also! I was banded on 11/21 and go for a fill on 12/20 also. I feel like I am going through this blindly even though I have the materials. I find this site very informative and I havent even asked a question as someone here always asks it for me, lol! I go back to work on Wed and I also nervous as I have a job that can be physically demanding. Oh well, with all this protien in me, I can do anything, lol! Welcome and I look forward to chatting with you on different topics as they arise!

Hey Skinny, was there a big difference once you got filled? And, do they just take a wild guess as to how much to fill? I'm still in the just banded phase and food seems to pass through quite easily.

Honestly, no. I ended up not getting a fill today. I'm still not completely sure what I should be looking for to see if I need a fill. I'm losing weight.. (8lbs last month) I'm not really hungry in between meals... Usually get a little hungry right on schedule. But Im not sure if I feel restricted at all. I measure my food with a food scale so I don't really leave room for over eating. As for how they know how much to fill, I'm not sure.. I guess it's at the doc's discretion.

Hi...I'm Lisa and I'm taking the LAP Band journey. Had my surgery on December 1st and it's not even a week and I'm down 22 pounds! My main reason for the LAP, not only better health but to eventually have my hip replaced. I'm living a life of pain...well, lets say, I'm NOT living...this is not fun, no life at all with this much discomfort!

Looking forward to checking in again!

LIsa

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
