Advice!!! Lap Band Stuck....

Recommended Posts

I need advice....

How long should I wait before I call the doctor? I have been feeling stuck for about 2 hours now. I have "slimed" quite a few times and am still feeling pressure in my chest/stomach. I had microwaved a piece of salmon from last night and apparently it isn't going down (or up for that matter)! I have been slightly stuck before but it hasn't lasted this long in the past....

Thanks,

Katie

i have felt stuck for 5 to 6 hours a couple of times, and salmon was also the problem :) i eat a lot of fish and now i poach salmon, its much softer and easier to eat. You might find its better to go on mushy or liquid after a stuck episode just to let your tummy recover as it can get a little swollen after getting stuck. I cant really advise u to call the doc or not , that decision is yours, all i can say is its rare that stuck episodes lead to medical intervention .. hope that helps and hopefully u wont be stuck too much longer !

I can't say whether or not you should call the doctor, but the best advice I can give you now is to stand up, maybe do some jump and jacks and try to keep your body in an upright position. It helps it go down easier.

I also heard pineapple juice helps.

Best of luck to you!

Ended up getting unfilled which, of course makes me sad BUT, on the otherside of the coin, I am SO much more comfortable now. I have heard home remedies like cola, meat tenderizer and Water, pineapple juice, hot tea with lemon, and several finger down the throat. I can always get re-adjusted at the end of next week so, as always, I will live and learn. Now I know reheated microwave salmon IS NOT my friend. I am going to take it easy for a few days with solids. Thanks for the advice!!!

Katie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
