Jealousy Issues After Lap Band Surgery ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any body that is "jealous" of your weight loss? Mine i believe is my husband. He was so supportive about me getting it, and now since i have lost almost 45 lbs and dropped 4 dress sizes, in an xl shirt now, it seems like he is jealous of me. He has put on what i have lost i think, LOL! but he acts all pissy towards me now, i don't get it. he has gained so much weight this summer from being layed up from an injury and i think he might be a little depressed about that, but then jealous of me at the same time. He used to compliment me on my weight loss, now he is hateful about it. anyone else with this issue??

Sorry u are dealing with this. I lost a friend because of her jealousy issues. She gained about 80 lbs this last year when I lost about 115. I gave up my friendship with her because she was mean. But I don't know what u can do about your husband. Hang in the.

He may not be jealous. It may be that he is afraid of you leaving him behind. He might be even depressed about his weight gain and feels helpless. Hopefully he will come around and be supportive again.

Wow, tonight he complimented me several times on how proud he was of me on my weight loss, to keep up the good work. that he needs to do something to and he was sorry for being pissy as of late. lol! i was pleasently surprised. he went to a new doctor about his leg and is finally getting some pain relief, am thinking his pain has been a big contributor to his crankiness.

thank you all!

I'm glad to hear your husband has complimented you again, and got the ball rolling for his own injury too. I have a friend that has put on weight this past year, and she makes a lot of snippy comments about everything being so "easy" for me because I had surgery... Grr!

None of my friends or family, no, but even several years later I can find it hard to break into a group of other mothers at things that involve my kids. So many women in that 30 to 45 age group are fat, out of shape, overworked, stressed and have given up on themselves - precisely where I was six years ago when I decided to get banded. They can be really pissy towards someone who looks like they take care of themselves (which I make time to do). Not for me sweat pants and haircuts at the barber, lol. So I often find I get snide remarks like "well, YOU wouldnt have to worry about that" when talking about diet, the gym, etc or the worse one was when my daughter was younger at a different school, she'd ride her bike and I'd run with her the 4kms to school and then run the 4kms home so I'd be in running gear at school and I'd get remarks like "why would YOU need to run" or people acting as if I was doing it only to show them up.

People really dont like concrete examples that their excuses are just that, excuses for not making the effort. Lack of time, lack of money, fatigue - they're all nothing but excuses but people do NOT like proof of that.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
