No Lap Band Fill

Recommended Posts

went to doctors apt today. 5 weeks out from surgery and lost 20 lb. She didn't give me fill because I have lost 20 lb. Was kinda disappointed that I didn't get a fill, but excited because I get to start regular food now. Anyone else not get a fill and how long before you did get a fill

I've been banded for 10 weeks and haven't had a fill yet and may not get one if I can keep losing at the rate I'm

losing now. There are several people who have lost more than 100 lbs without a fill, so it's possible.

Over 6 months out. over 50 lbs lost. No Fills. The way I feel is that you have the band inside of you for the rest of your life, there is plenty of time for fills. I would prefer to do the hard work on my own and know that if and when I need some extra help that fills are available.

While I don't have any fills, I do feel restriction, not severe or major in any way, but it is there. I think the best thing for me is that even without fills, it has helped me stay full for hours. I don't do a lot of snacking in the day. I keep my calorie intake at about 1800 to 2000 calories a day and I work out about 5 days a week. I also eliminated rice, potatoes and bread from my diet. So far this has worked for me.

I also use Myfitnesspal.com and just for a Fitbit which is awesome.

If you are losing weight without fills, just keep doing what you are doing. Good luck on your journey.

I am 5 months out and down almost 82 pounds with no fill. I agree with what Thee-O said...plenty of times for fills later on if needed!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
